VBstocks
Well, it's not totally a hack, not a template modification so I don't know where to post it. Besides these are various codes that I found and patched together.
What it does, it allows you to give your members the ability to customize (add, delete) their stocks display. The non registered user gets the generic info about dow jones nasdaq and s&p. Once a member is log in, then he can pick and choose what to display. It is drawing the info from yahoo, with the normal 15-20 minutes delay. A very small table of 2 fields needs to be created: username and stocks to hold the individual info. All that is left for me to do, is to place some generic info for registered members who do not want to customize. Right now it does not display any info for those members. Since this is not a full hack according to vb.org rules, I will not post it. Anyone who wants it, simply send me a PM. I'd love for firefly or some one else to look at it first. That was originally intended for my own use and I hardcoded the html in there directly instead of using templates. Screenshots below |

sent you a pm with a download link

Thanks. How hard was it to setup? I see on your page you have to login to customize. How is that done?
|
I'm also interested in having a stock display on my site... The screenshots of yours look nice, but I did not see it on the live demo in your first post.
Also, what is the legality of using Yahoo's stock quotes; i.e., porting them over to another site like this? Many thanks! Scott |
Looking good Lionel, I may be interested :)

where can I get this script ?
|
I also would be very interested in this.................. Where can I get it?

OK guys, I completely forgot about that thread. That website no longer exists, but I have the source code. I adapted it to vb2 and it worked great. Now, I am not a coder and I am going to try to struggle to come up with something for vb3. The truth is I would love for someone else who is able to take it over from me. If anyone wants to do something with it, and would release it for all, PM me and I'll send you the source code. In the meantimes, I am going to contact Antony who released stocks for vb3.

im currently very busy but with a custom coding project i am doing i am expanding on my stocks hack. i cant say what my custom coding work entails but it does involve some nice additions to my hack;)
