Just out of curiosity as well as some advice... what does everyone here plan to do with vB3.0 when it comes out. The majority of the hacks will not work with it... so when it comes out are you going to keep 2.2.x with your hacks... or upgrade to v3 without the hacks? I almost don't want vB3 to come out because of this tough descision :(

I was just thinking about this myself. From what I have seen on vb.com, there is a HUGE list of requests that other people have made. A lot of what I have installed is on there.

you mean requests that have been fulfilled in vB3?

When you see it from the admin side, you won't have trouble making a decision.

how much of the code is changed? I mean, will we be able to use some of the hacks already out for 2.x.x on 3?

I really doubt that... but the fact that a lot of hacks will already be in the vanilla version (with the devs' code) will make it easier.

Chen, what do you plan to do with this site?

We held off on upgrading to vb 2.x.x since VB3 seemed around the corner. We will probably hold off on upgrading until we can get our core hacks re-installed successfully - I dont think we will have much trouble.

im just gonna play around with it on my home computer first to get used to it all and see wich of the hacks i have on now can be adapted to v3

Reeve of shinra -- I strongly recommend you to upgrade to version 2.2.3b. It has some very important security fixes you should install. (how come all security releases are x.x.3? :p)

Neal -- I don't understand the question. This site is here to stay. A new forum will be opened to version 3 hacks, it's not like there won't be any more hacks. :)

I think he meant will you be upgrading this forum to v3.0 when it is released. :)

As for vBulletin 3.0, I am all for it, it is supposed to kick a** from what I have heard from posts around vB.com. I can't wait to see it come out, although it probably will take a little getting used to if there is too much change ;).

I think that has been answered on vBulletin.com already, not sure of the post URL though. They will release the beta to the devleopers to test, then ones they tinker with it, it will be released to the members, then after a few weeks, they will work on the final version.

Yep, I stopped installing hacks on my forum once I realized it would be pointless, considering all hacks would be gone by the time I upgrade.

damn, i had installed 18 hacks...

its now june... few months later... when is v3 coming out anyways?

I'll probly keep my 2.x board going on a few weeks after Vb3 comes out just to see how it works. I'll upgrade my test board and learn how to do stuff etc though.

All I care about is the efficiency in hacking and the template system in the Admin Cp of VB3, because currently it's not the hottest thing in the world (ie. 1 new template at a time?). I theorized some type of method in another thread about how to make it better, but Firefly said VB3 was due out any day ;)

Velocd: try using ubb 6's system of getting the files and hacking them via a file ;), you'll be so pissed with it you'll be crying for the current system, but i DO love the idea that you posted. it would help alot. but i can live with the current system
