Heres a quick demo:

http://www.voogru.com/vb/top_buttons/

the demo explains exactly what it does, it removes the log out and user cp buttons if there not logged in, if there logged in they will see different buttons depending on what they are, (admin, mod, normal user)

since it doesnt have any editing with the php files i dont think this would qualify as a hack.

enjoy :)

Great, thanks.

A suggestion, u could use this:

PHP Code:

/admin/index.php?s=$session[sessionhash

&
PHP Code:

/mod/index.php?s=$session[sessionhash

instead of /admin & /mod

This wont work on my forums since i have kinda big specialized buttons, that just fit across the top, but its a really nice idea! Great work!

glad people like it :)

Have this installed on 2.2.7 and it works great!

Although I am in need of help.

I am using a mouse roll over javascript. Therefore with all my buttons they change images.
EXAMPLE:) images/admin.gif --mouseover--> images/adminroll.gif

I have just erased the java where the images are to be and replaced them with the variables of this hack.
The java works exept for the new usercp.gif, register.gif, admin.gif, and mod.gif. The above images don't rollover.
It works great and all, but I would sure appreciate it if someone could help or point me in the right direction to remedy my problem.

Nice buttons, very nice!

Now I can be really lazy when surfing my forums!

What would I put in the templates to make it work?

You need to add the javascript to the code in your phpinclude template for this if you haven't already.

Has anyone made MOD and ADMIN buttons that use the default style? I'm lame at PhotoShop, and it might be a while before I get a new style up.
