I'd like to request functions.php be split into:

functions.php
functions2.php

because the code seems to be too log and my editors end up putting unnesicary code in to shorten it, I don't know but its happened with me for the following editors:

NotePad (cant even edit on this, file too long)
WordPad (totally screwy)
Microsoft Word (Adds unnesicary spaces)
PHPEd (same as above)
UltraEdit Freeware (same as above)

Maybe that can be an optional addon? anyway thanx for the recognition :noid:

Have you tried EditPlus? It's pretty good with it all. :)

Scott MacVicar 01-19-2002 02:01 AM

i have it running fine on PHPEd thats what i do all my coding on, and 2.2.2 is only a bug fix release, so i doubt many people with hacks will upgrade to it.

I know i'll probably just look at the changes between 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 and apply the changes.

EditPlus is what I use :)

functions.php splitting is too major to include in vB 2.2.2, but something will be done about it's huge size in v3. I'm not yet at liberty to say what though :)

yeah thats it, get us intrested in v3 again and then you stop ;)

I wanna see a test board, or the source :p

From my experience, you would break the functions into groups and put them into different library files. This can speed up processing time as most pages will not require all library files. (similar to C header files, or Visual Basic modules)

Get Homesite 4.5

XiXora 01-19-2002 04:57 PM

or homesite 5.0 ;)

tbloom2002 01-19-2002 05:38 PM

EditPlus rocks me :)
I've never had any problems with long files, hehe.

I've loaded gigantic files into EditPlus with no problem, too. :)

functions.php is being split up into more defined functions files in v3. It will not change for v2.2.2

nuno 01-20-2002 03:04 AM

freddie 2.2.3 :surprised

Freddie Bingham 01-20-2002 04:59 AM

Or 2.2.2, sorry I did not work on it...

All my time goes to v3

G-Cifix 01-20-2002 07:35 PM

get homesite 5.0 m8

Sparkz 01-20-2002 07:50 PM

The only editor you'll ever need is vim...

JamesUS 01-21-2002 05:11 AM

I once accidentally loaded my 60mb+ database backup into editplus. It ran fine :)

LOL, I loaded a 25mb raw access log file once. My computer got slow, but it worked. :)

Sparkz 01-21-2002 06:53 AM

I can't really see a problem findig an editor that can take 75kB files...
It's not what I would consider a really big file, or anything...

Xelation 01-22-2002 07:35 PM

Go with cute html.

Mark Hensler 01-22-2002 11:17 PM

In EditPad Pro, I've currently got 3 files open:
54MB db_dump (.tar.gz file)
20MB db_dump (.tar.gz file)
15MB db_dump (.sql file)

Running beautifully. Search still fast.

HAHHAHA!!

I tried to open a Slackware 7.1 ISO (664MB) in EditPad...
WinXP crunched away at it for quite a while...
Then I got a memory error. (view attached)

nghiasi 09-26-2002 03:43 AM

WordPad always rock!

Ultraedit? interesting...I can use it to edit any size of file, biggest one I ever try is 550 mb and search function is not even slow down... Ultraedit and Homesite are one of the best..
