Has anyone implemented a user classifieds yet?

Dade 01-09-2002 08:43 PM

Don't think so, what exactly are you asking for? (More detail)

Just a classifieds section where members come and post their ads with picture etc... a sort of market place. Here is a sophisticated example where, in that case, people have to re-register.

<a href="http://www.f150online.com" target="_blank">here</a> is a good example of VB user classifieds integration.

Seems like a lot of people would like to see a classifieds system.. yet everyone has seemingly stopped writing waiting for vb3 or something.

Anyone know any good 3rd party products that might work for now? I don't want to have to have 2 different logins to our site.

Thx...

I have all but given up on finding a classifieds script that satisfies these requirements. The only thing that comes anywhere close is phpBazar (http://www.smartisoft.com/), but has it's own user database and will not include the current vbulletin users without them having to re-register. And they seem to be unwilling to accomidate this need.

The best option for now seems to be to find a good stand alone classifieds script and have it customized to your application.

I'm going to be working on this. My phpBazar site looks nothing like it is out of the box... fortunately. But it does have all the programming necessary to run something quite nice.

Yeah, I had made drastic visual changes to mine as well. I don't even have it installed on my server anymore, because it was just waisting space.

If you get it working with vbulletin let me know. I might reinstall it.

I would love this...that would be awesome to see intergration such as that

trackpads 08-30-2003 03:05 PM

I dumped phpbaazar after using fo 3 months. It requires ALL your members to register via it first and then it just copies the data to your forum. Which means any changes from the forums are not sent back to phpbaazar. The fact that they advertise 'integration' is a farce. It is a waste.

I went ahead and bit the bullet of having a seperate system but I only require logins for placing ads, not viewing. -

This is using the free script- http://www.deltascripts.com/phpclassifieds/

I would be more than willing to pay someone to integrate this (or even share that cost with a few others who need the hack)

I am actually working on one that integrates with VB. (:

trackpads 08-30-2003 06:19 PM

Which one? When? Cool! Can you tell me some more about it?

Neo 08-31-2003 01:25 AM

Which One: The one I am working on (making my own)
When: Not to sure, make a week or two, depends on my work load
Cool: I know.
More: Umm, it will act like a forum, but is made for you guested it classifieds

trackpads 08-31-2003 03:20 AM

Can I help test it or see it?

Thanks again,

-Jason

There's one if you become a contributing member over at vbportal.com. It integrates with their portal front for vBulletin. Good stuff!

trackpads 09-01-2003 11:34 PM

No more portals for me ;-) I swore off after PHP-Nuke disentigrated ;-)

I didn't know they disentigrated..... I just got an email the other day announcing Final Release 6.9. http://www.phpnuke.org

trackpads 09-02-2003 12:12 AM

I refer to the change to requiring membership in the 'club' and the meltdown of the PHP Nuke forums. It was ugly there for a while ;-)

But in the end I just decided to center my site around a solid membership system like VBs. It has worked out better than relying on the whims of a stressed out italian ;-)
