This hack allowed your forum members to send a congratulation email to the other members in there birthdays
I got the idea from Freddie's hack :) |
very nice idea!
Just a couple of typos in the birth.style templates: in brth_send: "the congratulation ema[high]i[/high]l was sent" (i missing) in brth_error: "sorry you can't send more th[high]a[/high]n one congratulation email" (should be a, not e). Cheers, Bira |

But what if there are several birthdays on one day, and I want to send a congratulation to just that one or two particular persons? |

Is there anyway that this email can be sent automatically from the forum and then the individual users will be able to click the link?

I think I may have done something wrong - there seems to be one minor glitch.
When a member receives an email, the subject comes out as: "<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: brth_sub --> " and the first 2 lines of the message are: Happy Birthday!!! <!-- END TEMPLATE: brth_sub --> Now in the brth_sub template I only have "Happy Birthday!!!" Is there a way to correct the subject? Also, one other thing that I don't know if anyone can help me with. My host's email address comes up as the "from", and not mine. Is there a way to change that to be my address? Thanks! |

I uploaded the original files for birth.php and birth.style and still get the same subject line. :)
Should I uninstall and reinstall br_install.php? |

Great hack. Thanks:)
Running 2.2.1 here. Anyone else with 2.2.1 may have to go to birth.php add this: error_reporting(7); after this: <?php Working great here. |
Are my users morons or this hack uses admin email? Some days I get dozens of thank you notes from the same guy. I am assuming that other users are sending him congratulations.
|
Is there a version for php3. The board I am running was setup with php3.
Thanks, Netman |
I look up Hack, which a user the birthday has automatic PM or E-Mail from the board gets?

Thank you for this nice hack.

FYI, this already is default in 3.0 and beyond, and this hack is for vBulletin 2.
