I need some help. I installed the 'display avatars by category hack' and it has been working fine until recently. Although im not quite sure if it is the hack that is not working...

The Problem:

When a user goes to change their avatar, and they try and use a custom avatar, after clicking 'submit', they goto a page that says "The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again."

However it is a regular gif or jpg and it does not exceed any of the limits set.

Help?

You need to register though, and then try and use a custom avatar to see the problem.

do i need to have a minimum number of posts to use a custom avatar? it isn't giving me an option to use a custom avatar.

yes, you do need a minimum number of posts. Tell me what nickname you registered as and I can add posts to your account. If you have ICQ, or AIM, you can private message me your nickname so we can chat instantly

sure enough... i can confirm the problem. the next step is to uninstall the hack and see if the problem still exists. have you tried that?

What could be the problem?

I am having the exact same problem and I suspect its the avatar SQL table corrupted. am I correct in this assumption? :(

I have that problem too, but. I haven't installed a hack !!

I just can't seem to upload any avatar.

Only as admin through admin control panel. there everything goes fine.

You can goto www.creations.nl and test it out with the temp account: test

login & pass = test
