Contest Master 12-03-2001 12:19 PM

After the bumpy roller coaster ride for things to settle in, finally everything is running smoothly. To initiate incentive for you hard working code hackers we have decided to announce “Hacker of the Month”. Here is how this is going to work.

-You can nominate yourself or another code hacker in the appropriate thread, (coming soon)
-For your nomination to be accepted it must be second by someone other then yourself. Your nomination will not be counted if it is not second.
-5 nominations will be picked
-A vote will then take place where everyone will vote on the Hacker for that month.

The winner receives the pride and joy of knowing your peers like you. You also a get a “Winner” button beside your name, which signifies you have been hacker of the month. You will continue to have this forever. You will also be able to post a banner or button on your website so everyone knows you were “Hacker of the Month”. We are concocting more prizes, which are bigger and better; however, we don’t want to spoil the anticipation yet.

Nomination process for next month's contest will start this Wednesday, 5th of December.
We will be accepting nominees for 10 days, until Saturday the 15th. The staff here will then choose the 5 hackers that proceed to the finals.
The actual voting will take place during 15 days, between the 15th and 31st.
On January 1st, 2002 we will announce the first Hacker of the Month ever!

So hackers, start up your editors and let the hacking begin! :D

Fellow designers are welcome to contribute graphics for the winners, it would be very appreciated.

Very nice idea of having a nomination for "Hacker of the Month". I am sure that I will not stand a chance to be Hacker of the Month, since I haven't had much spare time to create any hacks, and even less to be arround, however that will change soon I hope :)

Anyways, can't wait to begin nominating who I think is the Hacker of the Month :D

heretic 12-03-2001 08:27 PM

I'll be up front right now and say my vote's for someone with a 3 letter name :D

Scott MacVicar 12-03-2001 08:48 PM

FireFly maybe :D

I think its a great idea to have hacker of the month. I also think the prize sounds cool heh.

jamesdasher 12-03-2001 10:59 PM

ummm...couldn't that 3 letter name be PPN? :D

Dalius 12-03-2001 11:31 PM

i haxor j00?

snyx 12-04-2001 12:20 AM

oh please! firefly HANDS DOWN!

1) what are your 'regulations' as far as hackers-turned-vB officials?

2) Is it feasible to nominate or vote for a hacker that hasn't posted a new hack at all, but his old hacks are still among the best ever?

I'll take a hypothetical example: would it be feasible that Ed Sullivan may end up the winner? :D ;)

Just asking for clarification, because there are a few hackers who need imo to get credit for building this community to begin with, even if they're not actively hacking or participating *now*

Doh, I thought this was going to be the launch of something new ..... oh well.

nexialys 01-12-2006 04:35 PM

looks like Corriewf have a lot of time to loose, bring some old thread back from the deads...

Chris M 01-12-2006 04:38 PM

You can't blame him really - It's not his fault that he's backwards :p

Chris

Corriewf 01-12-2006 05:14 PM

What are you guys talking about? I am still eagerly awaiting Chen's response.......

I bumped this thread to put things in perspective. Sometimes to figure out where your going you need to figure out where you have been. ;)

Coder will be kicked out of contest if they PM a user to vote for them. All PMs will be searched for content. Homeland security will search your emails too.

One thing that I noticed here is that I've spent a LONG time trying to find people to make a custom hack for me. I had several people including MarcoH64 agree to create the hack for me, but then they just decided to never again respond to any of my messages. Not a big deal considering they didn't get my payment or anything, but it sucks when someone like MarcoH64 says to wait 3 weeks and after those 3 weeks he ignores your messages. :( I've since picked several others, including Chris M and his friend, so lets hope that they keep their word. :)

Maybe have some way for people like me to give feedback for coders who have performed a custom job and have that feedback visible by everyone. Maybe have positive custom reviews add points to a coders 'hacker of the month' thing.???

Corriewf 01-13-2006 02:54 AM

[QUOTE=nexialys]that's not very funny to create rules to build panic among users... NO PM is ever searched for content...

and btw, this contest was built 4 years ago and never put on the road for a lot of reasons... i suppose... can someone close this thread once and for all ?
