vb.org working with 3.8.12, why we can't see this version ??

djbaxter 08-11-2018 08:45 PM

This forum uses a highly customized version of vBulletin. I assume that's what 3.8.12 is - not for public distribution.

TTayfun 08-12-2018 04:03 PM

it is inacceptable.

Need MarkFL to answer this thread IMO.

Paul M coded this heavily modified version specifically for vBulletin. It's not for sale. The version used on this site has never been for sale. No one cares what you find acceptable. That's the answer to the question no matter who answers it.

I don't have anything to add really that hasn't already been said; the proprietary version of vB being run here is not publicly available, whether anyone finds it acceptable or not. That's just the way it is. :)

im pretty sure, btw, the reason has to do with copyright rhetoric...so they dont really have a choice

TTayfun 08-13-2018 09:26 AM

if you are added to footer "Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.12", this event is of interest to all customers.

Either you will not use custom 3.8 series or you will distribute it to all your customers.

How ridiculous!

That's like saying that no one should ever customize their vBulletin forums and all of them should be using the same version.

Seriously, get over it. The highly customized version used here is not going to be released to the public and whether or not you like it is irrelevant.

Move on. Nothing to see here.

Ok Mr. Troll.

I will leave you to rant on pointlessly in your own private thread.

Have a nice day! :)

Dismissing for a minute that you're not understanding no one cares about your demands ...

There are thousands of hours of development time in the version on this site, so even if vBulletin wanted to sell it they wouldn't be selling it for the cost of vBulletin 3.8.11. They would be selling it for a price no one would be willing to pay.

I'd thank you to leave your personal insults of other customers out of these discussions.

Your question has been asked and answered.

If you want your site to resemble this one either develop it or pay someone to develop it. That is precisely what vBulletin did. They paid someone (Paul M) to develop it. You could pay him to develop your site. He's easily reachable if you try.

Once more, in case you missed it the last several times, no one cares about your demands.

You purchased a product as it was at the time of purchase with no warranty expressed or implied that the product would ever be upgraded beyond security updates. We all did. That's the reality of the situation. In fact, vBulletin advertised that 3.8.11 would be the last update to the vBulletin 3.8 series when it was released in May of last year. You got the product for which you paid. vBulletin doesn't owe you anything.

Stop bothering us with this nonsense.
