Marketplace

Hello all,

I've coded a, unique I can say, Marketplace plugin for for vB4. While there are lot of sites for Forum Admins, they focus in discussion with a small section for listing plugins.

The current sections of my plugin are:
  1. Multi seller shop where coders/designers can sell their mods/styles. Can work like Codecanyon where money goes to admin and then to sellers or direct to sellers. Comission can be fixed amount or percentage of the sales amount. Both options can be different per usergroup.
  2. Freelancer where clients can post requests for custom work and freelancers can bid on them. Freelancer can set who will pays the sites fees (if any) and also create milestones for payments.
  3. Classifieds for selling licenses, domain name, websites. Again the money and depending on the usergroup permissions can go to admin or directly to seller.
  4. Disputes. Maybe selfish, but I believe that is much better than PayPal resolution center.
  5. Wallet: A separate section holding all Credit/Debits for Users/Freelancers
Some extra points:
  1. Every post in Shop, Freelancer, Classifieds can have it's own thread, depending on usergroup permissions.
  2. I'm thinking to add my HelpDesk mod, but I'm not sure for it.
The problem is that, even if I know that is a good working plugin and (as I know) there are no similar sites, I've doubts to start operating a website.

Any suggestions????

Thank you for your time
Christos

Hello Arun,

I'm fine, thank you. I'm always here but only a few times I logon.
I'll try to install the full package in the upcoming couple of days and then I'll share the link. Have no screenshots as it was not for public sales.

Chris

Here are some screenshots from Disputes. There are several great features like partial refund, timelimit to open a dispute, timelimit for discussion etc. If communication between seller and buyer does not ends well, buyer can change it to claim and then only admin can decide about it.

If you ever plan on releasing it, feel free to PM me the files first and I can do a security check before you put it up. :)

Do you intend to release this here (for free) ?
If so, then screenshots are best placed in the release thread.

If you dont intend to release it freely here then I'm not sure what the purpose of the screenshots are.
Remember that self promotion and/or promotion of paid plugins (either released or intended to be released) isnt permitted.

You're right Paul. My apologies, I'll remove them right now. If it was in my plans to break the rules of the site I had to attach them in my main post. I just forgot it when replied to a request for screenshots.

Currently don't know what I'll do it. Had in mind to start operating a marketplace but by the end of September I did a simple surgery for prostate removal and even if all pre-operation medical tests were clean, finally the after operation biopsy shown cancer, so I've lost any interest for anything. I did this post just to have something to discuss.

Thank you for your supporting words Joe. Really appreciated. Sadly I read in your site for your own health issues. I wish you fast recovery.

For those who want to test it:
http://www.teriakis.com/market/shop.php

demouser1 / demopass1
demouser2 / demopass2
demouser3 / demopass3

Each user has a balance of $1000 so you can buy things there. You need to add some products there and then switch user.

Currently only the Multiseller, Disputes, Wallet sections are active. Also note that this version supports Tangible products in addition to downloadable. Also supports subscriptions and services.

Please pay attention to submenus Client area, Seller Area

Do you want feedback here or on your site?

It lacks a thing for me if I want to earn money from resell products from different websites.

If possible, you should add this module

allow create product categories and product details in each one.

Allow hide real url from the author and mask URL with your own domain (URL), when clicking on the URL, it will redirect to real URL that included referral member id on it, so forum admins can earn money from commissions when someone buy the products.

So, we can resell many products from different websites that they are offering commissions from selling their products.

Thank you for your feedback but seems that you misunderstood the operation way. My Marketplace will not be a products directory/listing or affiliate portal. All products must upload to my site and all payments will goes to site and then sellers can request withdrawals. Something like the way that Envato works. That's why the existment of Disputes section. Also (in case that I'll activate my Helpdesk addon), support will be given to my site (each author will has it's own staff account).

Sure I know that Envato had its own affiliate links but they keep a big percentage of the sales (25%-50% plus a fixed amount) while my income from each sale will be very low (let's say 10%) so I don't have the ability to give commisions to affiliates.

The only doubt that I've is to have the client's payments go directly to seller's PayPal accounts but this way I must disable the disputes section.

It's a complicated site and totally different than other informative marketplacse like (the very nice) yours. To make it easier understandable I'll not have any active forum. Only Threads connected to each product/project/classified etc.

And you run that as a single person? I don't want to give insult, but you expect people to put that much trust in you? What happens if you have an accident? And hopefully you have good lawyers, because you'll be the one that has to decide claims and disputes, because you have the money and have to decide what to do with it.

No... no..., don't worry. You don't insult me at all. Actually this is my main doubt.
Yesterday I've wrote to my best client with whom we're friends now:
Quote:

Your suggestion on how to operate the marketplace. Currently it works like all other similar sites (eg Envato for selling scripts/themes, Freelance for hiring freelancers etc).
This means that all money goes to admin and freelancers request withdraws over a minimum amount.
Even if it has been tested and works fine, I’ve doubts on using it this way. The reason is simple. Do you think that freelancers will trust a site owner to control their money?
So I’m thinking to modify it (it’s some days work only) and all payments willl goes directly to freelancers’ PayPal.
This is the point that I've stucked and that's why I post a request at TAZ looking for partners. It's not only that I'm a single person. Worst of all 2 months ago I found that I've cancer, so my future is not the best. But I want to operate a site like this. It's a dream of 3 years now when I registerd the domain adminkiosk.com. Unfortunately I lost the renewal as I was hospitalization at that days.

cellarius 12-20-2016 06:26 AM

I really hope you can make your dream come true, pal - and sorry to hear about your cancer. I'd just advise not to burden you with the tedious task of clearing payments, especially in your situation. Offer the platform, but let the money flow directly. I just don't have any bright ideas on how to ensure people don't scam you off your share :(
