I scanned more than a 100 threads and still not found a clear answer.

I need to merge a dead vbulletin forum with a new one. Some users from the old forum registered with the same username on the new forum.

I can guarantee serious reward for anything that works

and please be patient with me, i am new to vbulletin

i would love something like this too. i am creating a new vB, and want to merge the old one into parts of the new one.

I cant guarantee a reward like Learner29, but i can promise that it will be used. ;)

I'm also in desparate need for this. Maybe the three of us should go together ($5 per person), and offer $15 for anyone who can create this hack?

I am suggesting I would put a reward of $20, can each of you put $15 ? $50 dollars IS serious reward I think.

u tried making a db backup of the old forum, then importing the database?

some of the users of the old board subscribed with the same name or with a different name on the new board. ...

you surely see my point..

...... and some other users were fast to register with cool names..

so for example Mr. Cool on the old board is not necessarily Mr. Cool on the new board.

of course, Mr. Cool of the new board would not accept you display all the previous posts of Mr. Cool of the old board as his. he did not write that.

come on buddy, we have been waiting for seriously long time now.

I thought you would try to work on this script before the end of the year..... are you going to work on christmas or what ?? :D

I am working on it :) it's getting there.

It's a tough script to write if you do it properly though.

I do work a fair bit over Christmas :( (though not on Christmas day) as do most of the vBulletin Developers/Support Staff

On second thoughts, I'm going to need some databases to test this with.

If anyone would like their vBulletin's merged and they would like me to do it for them, then please send me a mail so we can dicsuss the details. I will need the databases on my own server to do the testing. Naturally they will be kept private and deleted when I've finished testing.
I won't be ready to do this for a few more days (maybe a week) but if I start gathering requests now then everyone else can have the script quicker.

that is I install vbulletin on the server in a new database and create a few users and paste a few posts using the name of each one.

and we do that a second time with another database ....

Fake databases are not really what I'm after (I can do those myself). I have a couple of databases to play with now so hopefully those will do for now (though more are of course appreciated). I have a 35mb and a 20mb database that I'm going to try merging this week.

John of old board is not forcedly John on the new board. so ? u know.

yeah I look for duplicate users and email address.
and if any users have already registered I need those user names as well

James has not had lots of time to work on this script recently because he assumes the support on the vbulletin forums.

if you guys can organize stuff together and get the script done, all of the users above, who have shown interest in the script, would be more than thankful.

then while I merge forum A users to forumB users

forum will have to have new user acitivation disabled,

vbulletin.com or vbulletin.org wants to help me with my ip address problem , so maybe I can file I discruntled members forum and switch over to ikonboad for free :D

no hack but I will restore your database for you if you want little money but you must have phpmyadmin

my request was about 7 months ago ..... of course now it is a totally different situation..

If you or anybody else has a means to merge two databases I would be interested.... but it is not any more an urgency now.

I talked to JamesUS and he said that this would eventually be a standard feature of vB3. I'd still like to see it happen for vB2 though, as I'm in the exact situation as you are.
