vB Arcades ?

Just curious, whos using and which one.
There hasn't been much talk about arcades.

What arcade and vB version.

I have ibProArcade and v3Arcade both installed but use ibProArcade the most..
vB4.2

Thanks !!

on our vb4 game board we use use ibpro (before the vb4 relauch ibpro and v3 too). for me it still is the best arcade, but it needs a lot of work and additional addons.

if you only want to offer your users some games the easy way, i recommend the lite version from dragonbyte.

I use v3 Arcade.

I had not heard of vBArcade, I had to look it up, apparently its not available for vB3 anyway.

blind-eddie 08-01-2016 08:48 PM

I use a heavily modified version of ibProarcade for vb3.8.8. It has every bell and whistle stangger5 has made and installed on my site... and a few of my own edits.

I can not comment on any other arcade for vbulletin but, would recommend ibProarcade with all the addons and edits that stangger5 has made.

We are using vBArcade by dragonbytes on 4 sites as you can tie it into vbcredits so users pay to play and can go for the jackpots.

I'm surprised anyone cares about Arcades anymore. All the games use Flash, flash generally isn't available on mobile browsers and is on the verge of being dropped from desktop browsers.

I forgot about vBcredits with ibProArcade.
I`ve got vBcredits with ibProArcade working in ibProArcade 2.7.3+ and vb4.

Its been turned off for a while, until now. ;)

I thought that was java not flash.

BirdOPrey5 08-09-2016 07:50 AM

I use v3 arcade and all the games are most definitely flash, not Java- although Java is another technology that is best removed from your computer for security reasons unless you absolutely need it for work, in which case you should make sure it is updated frequently.

I thought there would be more than 9 votes...lol..

When you originally posted this poll, we had the v3arcade system on our site, with a handful of old games, and many wouldn't save the score. No one was using it and I just didn't vote.

Since then we've upgraded to ibProArcade v2.7.3+, and with your generosity and HUGE selection of games from which to choose on your site, we now have a wide selection of games for our users and they are really enjoying it.

I had always incorporated ibProArcade into my communities back in the day, when I used it on it's 'Native' platform. Always loved it, and always want a functioning one for my members.

I'm running VB5 now, so I'm eagerly watching all the related threads to see who develops a stable one first. But with VB5 development the way it seems at the moment, I wont be holding my breath.

It's a shame, because I really do like the VB5 platform, and would hate to have to go back to VB4 simply because of lack of available Mods, especially (for me) the arcade.

BirdOPrey5 10-27-2016 07:39 AM

I'd be shocked if anyone was still working on an arcade that played flash games in 2016 for any forum platform, most of all VB5. I wouldn't plan on seeing one anytime soon, if that means using VB4 then that is what you should assume.

Ashlar217 10-27-2016 02:28 PM

Yeah shame. I know you guys invest the time where the demand is, and currently more people still stay with VB4. But sigh... I shall persevere lol.

My games are all flash games. :) I am working on a separate script of my own that I hope to export to vb5 once I figure out vb syntax.

I got licenses for both but I stayed with vb4 because of the mods available and still more stable.

I use two...v3arcade and ibProArcade, both heaviliy modified:

v3Arcade
www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/arcade.php

ibProArcade
www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/ibproarcade.php

I coded some pages to help merge the two together to some degree, such as a latest scores page that covers both:
http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/latestscores.php?

And also a leaderboard that covers both:
http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/leaderboard.php?

There is also a Chatbox (not coded by me, but certainly modified) that only logged in users can see, it appears at the top of every arcade page (but nowhere else on the forum), meaning that there is still some community 'posting' goes on, even among those who are only interested in the games.

Arcades are still a significantly popular part of my site and the people that use them will simply manually enable Flash in their browsers when the browser makers start disabling it by default.

Ashlar217 10-27-2016 07:11 PM

The problem I see with staying with VB4 and continuing to mod it out, is that eventually in the not too distant future, VB4 will be nothing more than a legacy version. All those that stick with VB4 will be stuck on that version and unable to port everything to VB5 because of the many differences in how the platforms are coded. If you do move to VB5 then you will lose all those mods and have to reinstall them from scratch.

So I will stick with VB5 and be patient for the Mod developers to start moving their focus this way

dmm2020 10-27-2016 09:31 PM

I eventually do plan to upgrade to vB5 but waiting for more mods to catch up in the vb5 section, especially my favorite ones.

I can understand that. For me, I'm starting my community fresh again after a 5 year absence, so it's better for me to start with VB5 and watch the progress.

goxy63 10-31-2016 02:50 PM

Not using any at the moment!
My members want to hang me, upgraded from VB4 to VB5 and no more arcades....
I have some unofficial "promisses" from "MrZeropage" that ibproarcade will be upgraded.
I think we should "force" him to do that ASAP, with some small donations :)

Ashlar217 11-01-2016 01:36 AM

I would happily contribute if this was in serious development

Hows an Arcade that plays html5 games?
You can even play them from your cell phone. ;)

I have a few installed.
Would anyone like to test them out?
