What software does overclock.net use?
<a href="http://www.overclock.net/f/" target="_blank">http://www.overclock.net/f/</a> It almost looks like a heavily modified vbulletin.
|
interesting. this site has quite a poker face: it gives nothing away.
NOTHING in the css, js or anything stands out as any of the forum platforms I've seen. |

i know for a hard fact that colourlovers.com is vbulletin

Backyard chickens appears to be using the same software. http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/ It is owned by the same company as overclock.
--------------- Added [DATE]1469560099[/DATE] at [TIME]1469560099[/TIME] --------------- The mobile style looks like a vb4 mobile style. --------------- Added [DATE]1469561326[/DATE] at [TIME]1469561326[/TIME] --------------- I asked and someone said that it is based off of a platform formerly known as huddler but huddler was just the company that owned it and it is now owned by wikia. I don't think that huddler had their own forum software. |
Pretty sure it's vBulletin. When you go to /member.php or /profile.php or /rss.php it all redirects to the appropriate page. (unless they have mitigated those old URL's to the new platform)

I asked here and they say it isn't but i still think it is http://www.overclock.net/t/1606985/w...are-do-you-use
--------------- Added [DATE]1469562207[/DATE] at [TIME]1469562207[/TIME] --------------- I guess it might be a custom software but is it based on vb? |
Never heard of Huddler before.
|
But what is it???
|
I see no similarity to vbulletin in the page source. They told you what it is on their forum when you asked. If you do some reading on Huddler, it was meant to replace vbulletin and phpBB forums which would explain the url mapping. There also is no recent news or mention of Huddler since about 2012 which means they are either getting updates via support from the owner of the Huddler software, doing the maintenance themselves or they are running severely dated a version. There could be some connection to the Krux DMP as all the sites I visited using huddler had blocks of krux JS code embedded.

According to http://www.v7n.com/forums/forum-mana...mmunities.html "It has an integrated forum, wiki, reviews, articles,,,, everything you need to make a well rounded community."
They went out of business, which is why you can't find anything about the software anymore. |
IIRC the Huddler platform was a hosted only solution. Quite a few forums still on it so one can only assume that Wikia is now providing the support as the forums seem to be hosted by the same outift (Tiggee)

I had a client a few years back who was approached by Huddler, from what I recall back then it's a private network... well public of course but what I mean is they must approach you OR if you approach them your site must be up to par and by that I mean traffic, users, content the works and it must be unique content at that! So what they do (again if I recall correctly) is host you, design the site for you (based on your input but on their software) and they handle everything which is quite nice but your ad revenue is where you get hit, they run their exclusive ads on your site instead of your own - this is how they offset costs and make money off your site despite hosting and paying someone to redo your site in a Huddler format.
^ All that if I was told correctly a few years ago and my memory is not perfect so don't hold me to it! It would explain though why you can't find much regarding the software though (not available for download, custom developed etc) if you wanted to review their ad codes it may shed more light on this, probably much more info out there too we just didn't use the correct search terms. http://huddlerhub.wikia.com/wiki/Huddler_Hub Comparable to Crowd Gather and similar just slightly different regarding the software being run i.e. all Huddler sites are on the Huddler platform not any other software. |
