Largest vb forum

What is the largest vb forum that you know of? I know there are lists of large forums, but those are unreliable and crappy.

BirdOPrey5 07-17-2016 07:16 AM

I'm sure there are bigger, but most posts I can think of right now is almost 11 Million- http://forums.offtopic.com/

I don't care about how many posts a forum has, that caring about how quality a forum has and which we can get from a forum. That's important!

You never asked for my list of them... Good to see you're trying to expand your education though.

The lag has nothing to do with the number of members or posts, it's everything to do with 757 requests for well over 3.5MB of pageload. The page is ridiculously bloated and it's not the db calls doing it - it's the hundreds of images they're calling.

forums.offtopic.com
forums.somethingawful.com
forocoches.com/foro/
pbnation.com/forum.php
forum.bodybuilding.com
fanforum.com
skyscrapercity.com
forumserver.twoplustwo.com
neogaf.com/forum
boxingscene.com/forums

In common they have:
  • Speed. Uncompromising speed.
  • Millions of posts. All currently highly active.
  • Older vBulletin versions (Mostly 3.8 although there is one v4 and the 2.8.9 you've seen)
  • Me as a member (and admin on two of them.)

The first clue that Max didn't want to name the forums he admins was when he didn't name them. The second clue was when asked, he didn't name them...see where I'm going here? :D

I am not 9 years old!

CarpCharacin 07-23-2016 07:16 PM

are there any vb forums with over 400 million posts?

RichieBoy67 07-24-2016 01:05 AM

Not trying to start any type of argument here but the fact that many of these very large forums use older versions of Vbulletin may just be that upgrading a large, large, large forum is very difficult and may not be for any other reason than that.
