You can't downgrade, you have to restore from the backup you made before attempting the upgrade (you did make a backup right?)

No , I didn't made backup , I still trying to upgrade 5.2 but nothing

Zachery 01-19-2016 09:09 PM

Then you should restore the 5.2.0 files and run the upgrade script.

What do you mean to restore , I even can't install that version , I got XML issue , and idk how to fix that one ..

Zachery 01-20-2016 12:03 AM

reupload all of the 5.2.0 files, run the upgrader again.

Have you tried a fresh install rather than an upgrade?
Upload all the contents of the newer version into it's own folder, create a new database etc and go from the beginning to make a fresh install.

Hectorsky 01-20-2016 07:23 AM

I don't want to lose data, with my hosting I can have only one database . I made a ticket but there is no one answering to me .... and I'm getting mad. I don't know, I didn't had problems with upgrade on other versions... so I'm still waiting for some staff to answer on my ticket and to fix that issue...

Dave 01-20-2016 12:27 PM

It's going to be rather tricky to fix this since you first upgraded, then tried to downgrade and now try to upgrade again...

DemOnstar 01-20-2016 12:34 PM

Bit rubbish that your host only allows one database.
Anyway. . .

1. Copy your old database and download it from your site to your computer. (Keep it there.)
2. Create new database on your server for new install.
3. Do fresh install.
4. Delete all tables from new database and import the old database to new install.

Not sure if it is the best procedure but this is what I would have done in your case and may have to do myself if 5.2.0 is messy.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about database , so that's why I can't do that , I don't want to lose data . Still waiting for professional assistance from vbulletin staff team , but there are no answer, ,,, I think they answering when is about money... hope they will answer me and fix it today.

Dave 01-20-2016 12:45 PM

Well this is not really something vBulletin should fix for you. They can advice you but they are in no way obliged to help you out with this. Your best bet is to hire someone to fix this problem for you.

You don't need any knowledge. I don't have knowledge on database issues either.
It is all done from your server. cpanel takes you to php MyAdmin and all database creation and deleting, importing, copying etc is done from there. Even if you learn how to copy your database, you are already doing one of the most important tasks that you will need forever.

COPY your database and download it now!

DemOnstar 01-20-2016 01:09 PM

Do you have cpanel on your server?

Hectorsky 01-20-2016 01:15 PM

Which ? I have phpadmin panel , and ovh cpanel

DemOnstar 01-20-2016 01:17 PM

Go to phpMyAdmin panel.

Hectorsky 01-20-2016 01:20 PM

ATM I'm at work, so I can't do anything now , but can you explain please step by step , hope I can fix that , as I see support from vbulletin is really badly.

My cpanel looks like this. . .

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1453303317

You will find php MyAdmin on there and MySQL Databases.
To copy your database go to phpMyAdmin, select your databse from the pane on the right. You will see its name. Click on it and you will get a page that looks similar to this..

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1453303735

At the top you can see OPERATIONS.. Click on that..

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1453303917

Where it says 'copy database to' give your new database a name and click GO

Or as an alternative, instead of choosing OPERATIONS, you could choose EXPORT and do it that way instead.

Hectorsky 01-20-2016 01:37 PM

So just to be sure. I will make database backup now , than I will install new version of soft , and it will be clean forum , after I will need to delete all tables on new database and to import old one yea? But I will need to do again upgrade for that and it can be same issue ,.

--------------- Added [DATE]1453304770[/DATE] at [TIME]1453304770[/TIME] ---------------

I think it won't work, because I will make backup of trash database , so when I will do importing of old database it will request to do upgrade ,and I can have same issue.

1. Make back up yes. You should do this before any upgrade or before you test anything or do anything. Your database will hold everything you have done.

2. Create a new database, it should have the same name and username details as you have put in your config.php.

3. Run the install like you did when you made your first successful attempt.
http://yoursite/core/install/install.php or whatever.
Let the install do it's job. You might remember the page that tells you to remove the install folder before you go to admincp. Do that.

4. When complete, go to the database that has been newly created and delete all tables.

5. Then go to the IMPORT feature at the top of the page and import the database you safely copied and downloaded. Import it to the database you have deleted all tables from.

6. It might also be an idea to test the copied database for anything else?

From memory, this is the way I would do it. Make sure your config.php reflects the names and paswords etc. . . . .

If it fails, you have still achieved in learning how to do the most important maintenance task ever.
Copying your database for backup purposes.

Good luck..

If your database is trash then you have nothing to lose.
Just do the install and begin again with your newly gained advantage. . .

But that is the whole point and why you are copying it!!! You are copying it so you don't lose it.
Then you say it is trash. So why copy trash?

Make sure you have a copy of your original database before doing anything. Whether it is trashed or not, get used to making database backups. They should be done regularly as a routine.

Never attempt to install mods or script edits until you have a copy of your database to fall back on.

I have to say that the threads you have made here and in VB.com are the most painful reading I have done in some time. You have totally ignored the staff, and the basic procedures for making backups before any upgrade, and haven't an understanding on how to restore a backup when things go wrong.

Shabby is one way I would choose to describe it. . .
It isn't like it was before, the procedure of upgrading is not a guarantee. Best to test it first in a test environment before going to your live site. These are lessons you must learn from.

If I will loose data , there is no point to keep that lisence from vb , the issue is not from my side , I did upgrade as i did for other versions ,,, support is slow , and ticked for my lisence are useless , are giving to me url to some documents to read ....

I have seen how slow the support is.
You may also be correct in thinking that there is something wrong with 5.2.0. It wouldn't be the first bad release they have done. I downloaded it yesterday but haven't installed it yet. I always wait for a week or 2 before I install and even then, I do it on a test site.

I have been done numerous times before over this particular piece of software and it won't be happening to me again.

I paid for the license as you did but after all this time, I am now laughing at the whole experience.
It is just another example of what people can get away with selling in this world.

No point in being bitter, nothing concerning these people is going to change.

You are not alone in this. Many people have been through the same shenanigans.
Learn form this as I and countless others have had to.
No point in talking about it much, it is generally not acceptable and heralds the closing of the topic.

You should make copies of all stuff you do, save it in a folder so you never lose it and remember to backup your database. Welcome to the system. . . .
Wish you well.

I would look at the upgrade code and see what DB changes are made, then you can try to reverse those changes (manually). If you don't understand DB's and the coding you can ask for help (which you have been), if you need it ASAP, try asking in the paid forums.

You need to calm down and stop with the swearing though. Yes, your problem was caused by an issue in the upgrade, but it has been expanded by you not having a recent backup.

If you want official support, you should post on vBulletin.com, or open a ticket in the members area.
