Vb4.2 Not Sending E-Mails

I got no idea what happened! I password protected a forum and now it will not let me back in. I have tried 10+ times to get it to send a password reset e-mail and it will not send it!

I tried the password for the protected forum no luck. If I click on the password protected forum and put in the password it will let me in but I cannot post anything.

Any help quickly greatly appreciated.

I'm confused, you state you cannot access the forum, but then say you can.
Check the Forum permissions in the ACP to make sure you are still allowed to make new posts. Also make sure the Forum is not marked as closed.

If I could into the Admin I would.

I don't know much, but I think if admin is
$config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] = '1';
in config.php, you cannot change pass, so '1' must be null

How exactly did you "password protect" a forum ?

Dragonsys 11-23-2015 01:57 AM

Did you password protect a single forum in the ACP, or did you use .htaccess to password protect your entire vb install?

Why don't you just remove the password of the forum/section from the admincp. Not sure why you are sending a password reset to your email for this has nothing to do with a pass worded forum/section that's only for your account. Maybe if you explain it we could help you better

Thats a great idea! Problem is you have to be able to get in the forum.

No no .htaccess...And yes I password protected a single forum and had no trouble until I done that.

My goal was to make it a private forum but somewhere along the line I screwed up I just don't know where. And since I cannot get back into the forum and it will not e-mail me a password reset I am dead in the water.

If you protected only a single Forum, then you should still be able to get into ACP, as it is outside of that forum. Can you access your Forum Index?

Do you have a link we can take a quick look at? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to have the link public.

Our goal is to have you tell us EXACTLY how you did this, several people keep commenting and asking and you don't specifically tell us instead you beat around the bush and we're not the ones doing the rain dance here to put that burning bush out, you're the one doing the dance and we can't dance along unless you tell us what song it is!

Long story short, did you add a .htaccess file to the admincp folder via file manager or FTP client?

- IF YES then simply rename .htaccess in the admincp folder to .htaccess1 and now try.
- IF NO and you used for example this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=296383 then see post #2 in that thread, add the code and it will be disabled.

IF the site is not sending emails then check the scheduled tasks/cron jobs to ensure the mail queue processor cron is running properly, if not manually running this once should sort it out otherwise this could be an issue with your server sending mails and you'd then need to check with your host.

*Just explain what you did in detail, the above info you provided is not clear and confusing to us who're trying to just help you quickly and move on respectively.

No you dont, you simple update or remove the password via the forum controls in the ACP.

Forum passwords dont have any kind of password reset functionality either, thats only for user passwords.
