Can anyone give me the code for that little online thingy right near your name to the left of the post that says who's online or offline..

thx

eva2000 11-02-2001 09:16 PM

that's a feature of vB and is in your postbit templates.. you need to enable show online in edit options for your admin panel

Snake~eyes 11-02-2001 09:26 PM

I feel dumb now.. LoL

I appreciate ya answerin my dumb question!

thx

|DarkManX| 11-04-2001 05:21 PM

hmmmmm.....i can't find this in the vBulletin option in admin cp.....

|DarkManX| 11-04-2001 11:40 PM

bump'n

heretic 11-05-2001 01:06 AM

it's not.

by default, it's on, and it's the V logo, as an image. you can edit the code to make it something different, but I don't see anything else referring to "online" or "offline" and I'm using 2.2.0

|DarkManX| 11-05-2001 08:40 PM

hmmm, well i like the glowing online and offline deal that they have here, just wondering how i could do that....

Snake~eyes 11-05-2001 08:48 PM

There's a special setting for the text so you could make it like that... I guess you have to edit what it looks like.. not really sure on that one.. lol

|DarkManX| 11-05-2001 08:53 PM

hmmmmmmmmm, well i really don't know how to do it, otherwise i would post it :)

KuraFire 11-05-2001 10:31 PM

replace the template "postbit_online" with this:

<table style="filter:glow(color=red)">Online</table>

and replace the template "postbit_offline" with this:

Offline

Now I'm just not sure on how to define the glow size, the color is no problem but the size, hmm...

EDIT: okay, here it is:

<table style="filter:glow(color=#C4C400, strength=2)">Online</table>

There, voil?. :)

|DarkManX| 11-06-2001 12:32 AM

oh yes!!!

thanks for this :)

Snake~eyes 11-06-2001 02:11 AM

yes.. thankyou.. i am going to install this on my forums.

Admin 11-06-2001 09:39 AM

You might wanna relocate $onlinestatus in your postbit template to a better place. :)

Good point:) I stuck it above "registered" like it's done here, good place for it.

Snake~eyes 11-07-2001 01:19 AM

yeah me too!

LuBi 11-12-2001 02:47 AM

I did it like that but when I logout to see if the offline works it still says online. Click below to see what I mean http://www.suprascene.com/forums/sho...php?threadid=1 this is a fresh install of 2.2 any help would be great.. :(

LuBi 11-13-2001 12:56 AM

<up>

LuBi 11-14-2001 02:11 AM

Well I installed this hack, and it always says I'm online. Basically I've cleared cookies logged out correctly... pretty much done everything I can. How can I fix this, or what might it be?

Also I have used another account on my forum and and now it says were both online all the time... I dunno what to do.

Diva 11-14-2001 04:05 AM

Hi. I Have the online/offline working... Except the color doesn't change. Any ideas? Thanks bunches!

LuBi 11-14-2001 04:06 AM

Well I got mine going but color change like what for online? Or do you mean online one color offline another?

Diva 11-14-2001 04:17 AM

When the member is online it glows. Here's the line of code to place in "postbit_online":

<table style="filter:glow(color=#C4C400, strength=2)">Online</table>

But the color stays the same.

LuBi 11-14-2001 04:29 AM

What do you mean stays the same? It's supposed to be one color. then when the user is offline it becomes plain text no glow saying Offline ....?

Admin 11-14-2001 09:35 AM

Diva, I'm afraid the glow effect doesn't work with Netscape.
Is that what you're using?

LuBi, are you sure you're logged out?
This is probably a cookie problem... *shrugs*

Diva 11-14-2001 01:43 PM

Hi, Firefly! Nope, I'm using Netscape 4.78. I noticed that the online in VB.org doesn't change colors either. I thought it did before. So there's no way to show a different color when online for IE?

winston 11-14-2001 02:09 PM

but.. it messes up my tables when someone is offline all the buttonsmove to the left side and the ip logged moves to the left as well.

Admin 11-14-2001 02:28 PM

Sorry, I meant to say it's not working with Netscape. It does work with IE.
But then my inner dyslectic side interrupted me. ;)

Diva 11-14-2001 05:42 PM

It's alright, I forgive you ;)

So, it's a nix on working with Netscape then? Not even using html?

Yea I had that also you can't just put

Offline

change it to

<table>Offline</table>
that will make it right.

And Firefly I fixed things, thanks I"m just impatient it takes longer to log someone off I guess...

Snake~eyes 11-14-2001 07:29 PM

If you want it to work on both IE and Netscape just make them into pictures..

but I cant find this "show online" in admin panel.

Steve Machol 11-15-2001 03:22 PM

It ain't that hard to find!

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options (or Change options in 2.0.3) -> Who's Online -> Enable Who's Online -> Yes -> Sve changes

Of course this assumes that you upgraded correctly and reverted the correct templates. Check the Announcements thread for your version on the vbulletin.com forums for more info.
