How Do I Create Another CMS Page?
 

I'm looking to create another CMS page like the homepage (I want to use it strictly for posting articles). I was looking through the cms templates but there are so many. How can I do this so that I basically create a new homepage but use it as whatever page I want? I want just like three rows of cms articles with comments.

So can anyone help? How do I create a new cms page and is there like a predone template somewhere I can find (I don't know how to build a custom page and write a template)

Did you figure this out already? I know very little about the CMS, and I searched around a little but couldn't find an article explaining how to use the CMS (it seems like there should be one somewhere, maybe someone else knows).

But I did play around with it a little, and I think a Section is basically a page. The things on the page are arranged using a Layout, and a Layout is based on a Grid. So I guess you'd first go to the Grid Manager and see which grid you want to use, or create one if you want. Then use the Layout Manager to choose an existing Layout, or create a new one and choose which widgets you want to display. Then create a Section. After it's created, go to it and edit it using the pencil icon, and you can choose the Layout.

One thing I found confusing is when creating a Section, it seems the "content columns" is for the arrangement of articles in the Primary Content section of the layout, and not the layout of the page itself.

Anyway, if you haven't done what you wanted yet, maybe someone else can point to some documentation or add to this.

So its only possible for one cms page in vbulletin? Really? That sucks.

So I'll have to hire somebody to build me a custom php page to get what I want done?

Well you can do categories and pages like I did here. Will this work for you?

I'm not following what you want. However, with the CMS, you can manage the following types of pages:

1. Section (like the home page)
2. Category
3. Article
4. Static HTML
5. PHP

If what you're looking for is one of those types, then yeah, you can create it. If not, then you'll probably have to hire someone.

Im just looking for the easiest way to create a new page that I want to use just for posting articles with a comment section, functioning like the homepage does where you see the article previews, then click on them and see the whole article/comment on it.

Whats the best way to do that?

That functionality is already provided in VBULLETIN..
Did you meant you want an easier interface to make new content on CMS ?
Like we have new thread and new reply buttons in forums area ?

Okay if it's already built in to vbulletin then how do I do it? My home page has cms articles on it and the grids can be adjusted, etc, but I don't see any options anywhere of creating a second page like that.

Sorry but I don't think you guys are understanding what im asking. I know how to use the cms on the front page.. i want to leave that as it is. I want to create another page entirely of cms that can be edited just like the front page. Right now the cms is my home page.. I want to leave that alone. I want to create another page with cms so I can add articles and have it be another tab in the navbar that goes to it's own page. Two cms pages in total okay? The stock cms page vbulletin comes with for the front page/home page and another cms page that I can call "Articles" in the navbar.

Unsure what functionality is the OP asking about..
this should be acheivable by adding new sections i guess, but confused

yeah I actually just thought of this as an option. I've never done it before but played around a little bit with it and while it's not a whole new page in the navbar, it is still a clickable link that brings you to a separate set of articles I can have in just three rows. Could even break it down further.

Ideally there'd be another option for the cms entirely as I don't really like the look of it but maybe it's just my theme. Appreciate your reply, seems OP is asking to open a specific category as homepage ... (with sub-category enabled naming same as CMS.)..

Shoot, but I really won't be able to contribute much more than that: In the past, people have asked if it is possible to run something like a second CMS instance. Normally, you have one landing page in the CMS, and under that root page all other sections and pages.

Example:

Root
- Section 1
- Section 2
- Section 3

The following is not possible:

Root 1
- Section 1
- Section 2

Root 2
- Section 1
- Section 2

I understood your pervious replies which meant same, but what does above both means.. ?
2 different sites/database or something more achievable but vbulletin lacks this feature ?

The latter. Like two seperated CMS instances with one installation.
