Sidebar Help! It's gone (not fluid style?) vB4 Default Style

Help!
Ever since I upgraded from 3.8 (yes i am lazy) I have no sidebar, like it is a fixed forum not a fluid. I went into sidebar and there are some things picked to show, but the forum is too wide or something?

have upgraded a few more times.
I am now running vBulletin 4.2.2 Patch Level 4)

Please note that this is the vB4 Default Style

Site is www.hamtraders.com

Can someone please tell me what an idiot I am and what I did?

Thank you

anyone able to help?

Can't see your site without registering. But if you came from vb3.8 then I guess the sidebar was a mod, or part of a custom style? Then you'd have to ask whoever created that. We don't provide support mods in the main forums.

Hi,
I PMd access

The Manual says can add in Admin Cpannel
Settings --- Options --- Forum Sidebar and Block Options

But I get nothing....

Are you able to tell what I am missing
Manual does not say what to do other than that

kh99 03-07-2015 04:56 PM

OK, sorry, it sounded like you had a sidebar on vb3 that stopped working when you upgraded. I got your PM and I'll take a look if I get a chance, but I'm not really sure if I'll be able to tell from that, I just thought I'd let you know that we couldn't see it.

vboptions > forum sidebar > set those to what you want
forums & moderators > forum blocks > add the blocks you want

forums & moderators > forum blocks > add the blocks you want

Forum blocks is not an option

would that have turned it on?

Try AdminCP > Settings > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options

^ That is the area where you enable/disable the sidebar and set it to left or right display (read the bottom setting, leave it ALONE i.e. do not disable cache).

Now of it does not show after that... then do as Lynne noted above and check your blocks, should be one if not more listed - if not then create some new sidebar blocks and afterwords reload the block types then clear block cache and they will show.

*If you recently were adding in plugins OR CSS code to any templates, did you perhaps add in code that hides the sidebar OR did you collapse the sidebar and simply need to click the button w/ the arrows to make it show again? See Attached.

forums & moderators > forum blocks > add the blocks you want
Forum blocks is not an option
I set up the side bar not there

OK when I went in as a superadmin the forum blocks did show up

I did the additional steps unfortunatly the arrow failed to appear

Only code put in the template was to add my banner at the top?

Lynne 03-07-2015 11:28 PM

It sounds like you haven't given your administrator permission to modify them. Go to Usergroups > Administrator Permission and give yourself permission to edit the forum blocks.

Wisc 03-08-2015 01:45 AM

That did it!!
It is showing up!

Thank you so much! Seriously has plagued me for 2 years or more

Only issue is polls show the thread
I chose new forum posts ~ wrong?

Lynne 03-08-2015 07:06 PM

I don't know what you mean when you say "polls show the thread". Can we get a link to view the issue?

Wisc 03-17-2015 12:44 AM

Hi
Getting some major errors now in the cpannel not sure what is going on
but:

it says this: Polls

Where can you most often be found when you are on your radio? If you have a favorite band or frequency post also
Where can you be found?

When in the square it should just have the poll

I asked the VBulliton tech..apparently there was no sidebar in 3 so I had it as a mod, perhaps the 4 should be a mod as well?

Could you recommend a mod side panel for 4? Thank you

Lynne 03-17-2015 06:08 PM

You don't need a mod in vb4 to have a Forum Sidebar as it is default.

Wisc 03-18-2015 01:53 AM

How do you add a poll to the sidebar so it displays properly?

Settings > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options >Create forum Block > Then??

Thank you

Lynne 03-18-2015 09:05 PM

You would need to add a PHP Block and enter the code to show polls. There may be one already in the vB4 Mod forums.

What would i use for php code?

How do you add a poll to the sidebar so it displays properly?

Settings > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options >Create forum Block > Then??

How do you add your twitter feed to the sidebar so it displays properly?

Settings > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options >Create forum Block > Then??

Is in Sidebar Anywhere (Formerly Sidebar for Activity Stream) by BOP5 BirdOPrey5

Thank you

All of the things you want to add require you to write the code to show it. If you want to show polls, you need to query the database for polls. If you want to show a twitter feed, you need the javascript to show it.

On my smoke break just now (I don't smoke haha but if they can take a break then so can I!) I managed to search and find this sidebar poll mod.
