Forum style like this?
Hello everyone.
I've been looking for a specific style but I'm not sure if there is a plugin or modification for it already. Basically I'm going to move from SMF to vBulletin soon and I would like to keep my styling. The forum style looks like this: http://puu.sh/eJpj1/fa888d9bff.png If there is a modification for it, that would be great (since I can't find a good one after searching a lot). And well, if there ain't something like that then I suppose I'll need to take a look to style it myself. Thanks in advance :). |
There's no modification or style like this for vBulletin as far as I know, looks heavily customized.
|
Okay, good to know.
Seems like I'll need to do it for vBulletin as well :). |
I did something similar to this in VB5 with responsive flip tiles using a couple template edits and CSS. Should be possible in VB4 as well.

Posts removed... not again OYE VEIGH!
To the original poster, that seems heavily customized like Dave mentioned. I'd imagine they used a double column layout... see Lynne's article here but also be aware that there's a mod for that as well, can't remember the gents name who whipped it up but if you search you'll find it ;). Now as for all the other posts in here, off topic at best and I'd prefer to see the original poster get info about the design layout he asked about instead of getting to the end of the current posts and going WTH just like I did. STOP derailing threads talking about why or why not vB4 is or is not greater than vB5, why or why not you should or should not go with one or the other - when the thread title says that then by all means please comment, let them know your thoughts but I'm sure you can all see clearly and agree that you derailed the fire out of this thread. It's out, all burnt up, let it go or I'll start posting beat a dead horse pics again like I used to on vb.com :p. Edit: FYI I hated to delete your posts, few of you are my favs' round these parts - was good reading but did literally derail the thread so please take no offense and please posts those opinions in threads where the op asks for such advice. |
Fair enough ;)
|
Yes, I can't really argue.
As an aside, I'm a professional thread de-railer, so if anyone's got a thread they're a bit bored with and would like it utterly derailing with some tedious rubbish, drop me a PM for a no-obligation quotation. |
Care to team up? ;)
|
If this is for forumhome then it's not difficult to do, just make styles for it.
@Xarwin, do you have a live link that using this style? |
Well as I said, it is from my current website (SMF) which I am going to leave soon for vBulletin.
So for now, its still live here: http://wyrmgnosis.com/index.php?action=forum. But no worries, I'll figure it out as I coded that design as well :). |
Xarwin your forum is awesome, great work

Thanks for the kind comments :-).
I actually found a plugin which kind of does what I need to have, I found it here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=275114 It's not perfectly the same but yeah, that's not the end of the world :-). Anyway, I'm not planning to convert my current SMF layout to vBulletin. I'm modifying the "Paragon" premium theme to my needs and improving it a bit to my needs. I'll share the result once I'm done -- No clue where to post it then, yet :-D. |

Hey,
thanks. I got your PM as well. It looks very interesting so I might see to buy it in the future. Much appreciated :). |

That's what I mean by sharing.
I never intended to post the modified premium skin, I am well aware of that :-). |

I have searched for styles that implement this sort of design as well with no luck. The only issue with using 2-column mods is that sometimes they can really mess up the look and not quite do what you want.
|
For some reason I just bumped back on this post (forgot about it lol).
I kinda gave up on the premium theme I had and converted back my old one with some heavy changes here and there. In the end I made my own changes for it and ended up like this: http://wyrmgnosis.com/forum.php It was not easy though. I'm sorry but for the moment I have no time to extract how I did this. I just got to this result by editing/testing it step by step. Took me a while though. |
