Can you enable public phpinfo and link to your site, or make a phpinfo page and link to it? I can write something quickly. I've been meaning too but I need to verify how the cloudflare system passes its headers to finish it.

Just ditch it. I was one of the first to use it with vBulletin and did so for nearly two years. The nonsense, downtime and BS aren't worth what it does for you, which is basically cache your static content and try to serve it from a site nearer the user.

As far as its protection against denial of service attacks go, it's nominal. Most people who believe they have been attacked in the past actually weren't. The likelihood of you being the target of a DoS attack is extremely low.

As far as your actual problem goes, this is well covered at the CF support area, there's a edit needed in one of the vB files so actual IPs are shown instead of the proxy. It's also explained to you during the CF install process.

Meanwhile here is the pertinent information.

That should help the OP sort the issue if he/she wishes to keep cloudfare.

I've been using Cloudflare for years now and downtime used to be an issue, but not anymore.

Gaming forums and hacking/cracking forums are usually target for (D)DoS attacks, or in case you have competitors. Cloudflare in fact does help stopping DDoS attacks but if you are target of a huge DDoS attack and the attack is directly against your domain name, there's a big chance they will just end the protection and all traffic will go directly to your server again.

Yeah Dave, some sites niche just draws that kind of attention unfortunately.

Max Taxable 12-30-2014 09:45 PM

For the vast majority of vB owners and admins, it's not necessary.

Additionally, if your site isn't optimized to start with it doesn't do all that much for your speed - the same KB load is delivered to the browser anyway.

It's just way overhyped.

Sure option 2 is what I used

Yep that's it.

I disagree. I switched form MaxCDN to Cloudflare because the SSL in the pro package was cheaper then using a SSL with MaxCDN. More is being served from the CDN than ever before and processor usage is down slightly. I have had no issues with downtime or slowness and it stopped the spam mail I was getting. Cloudflare is great and that is why sites like digitalpoint and reddit use it. It isn't needed for everyone but if you have a busy site it is worth it.

That being said you should really do other things first to improve page performance. Things like memcache, zend opcache and plugins like DBTECH Optimise Pro will make greater impacts.

Install mod_cloudflare (or whatever it is called) and it will fix your IP issue. Also disable rocket launcher as it has issues with vb javascript.

As I was saying, most people don't need it. Additionally, and still - it doesn't do much for performance if the site isn't optimized to start with.

It's mostly a "feel good" thing to have for most people who use it. Most people don't need it.
