/usr/local/lib directory ?
Hi i apoligize for starting a new thread as im sure this has been covered but i can't seem to find the answer.
I am trying to edit the php.ini file to allow larger uploads. php info says its in directory /usr/local/lib , the problem is i can't find that directory, i don't seem to have a /usr folder. Vbull 4.2.2 pl 2 |
I assume you have your own VPS? This will not work on shared hosting.
yes i have VPS
I would suggest asking your host about this. You may need to login via ftp as another user in order to view that directory. (Don't forget to restart apache after making any changes to the php.ini file.)
Well can someone tell me where its suppose to be at least? I assume /usr/local/lib means it's in the root directory and i just can't see it?
We don't know what you see, so it's hard for us to help you.
What i see is not the problem, it's what i can't see, and thats the usr directory.
I have submitted a ticket to my vps server but i know they will reply with Vbulletin is not their issue. |
Include screenshots?
Are you logging into the FTP as a root user? Can you see in what directory you're currently in? |

The file is there, and the directory is there. Here: [root@www /]# cd /usr/local/lib/ [root@www lib]# pwd /usr/local/lib [root@www lib]# ls | grep php.ini aphp.ini Was great of them but not sure how to find file from that. |
Why not just have them change it for you, since they were in there?
Well that would be nice, but they tend to frown on dealing with vbull or any other format, not their issue, was lucky to get what i got.
Also i need to learn this. |
Ummm, changing the php.ini file has nothing to do with vBulletin or any other software, it is a server thing.
Ahhh, i did not know that, thank you!
So your saying that is not a vbull file? |
Hopefully they will be nice and adjust it for you. :)
ya i asked nice lol
Best way to do it. :p
For future reference if you are running the cPanel WHM on the VPS or a dedicated server even you can edit your php.ini file inside it. If you are running WHM just login to it and look for "Service Configuration" on the left and click it. Then choose PHP Configuration Editor and you should be able to safely edit the values there without causing a serious problem with your server.
