Problem with WOL: Unknown Location
Hello together,
as you can see in the screenshot, I have a problem with the locations in WOL: http://tactical-riot-gaming.de/images/wol.png The system always points to graphic files and says "Unknown Location". When I click on the links, the webserver tells, that the object was not found (Error 404). I already deactivated the plugin/hooksystem, but the issue still appears. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Thanks for taking your time and your help! Best regards, Fields |
Normally "unknown location" means, the user is not found on any predefined site (like usercp, userlist, forum x, posting y etc.) and the user viewing the online list has permission to see this.
Why the images are listed, dont know, shouldnt you see just the forum index link instead ? |
Do you have any custom pages on the site that they are perhaps viewing? If you didn't create a plugin to set up a name/url for the custom page, then it will show as Unknown Location.
|
I already setup the plugins (online_location_unknown and -process) for mods that don't support WOL, but that did not fix the problem :/
|
Perhaps you did it incorrectly? Have you checked your session table to see what is entered in there as the location? If that is incorrect, then whatever script your wrote is not passing the correct information.
|
Yes, I already checked that. The plugins work and show the correct information.
|
So, you are saying these users are on default vbulletin pages, not on custom pages? Which page are they actually on? Can you duplicate this by having a test user logged in on one browser and then watching WOL in another browser to see which pages are causing the issue?
|
Hello Lynne,
I tested it with a test user. Here are the results in WOL when browisng the following sites: content.php > "Viewing Attachment" All other vBulletin pages (forum.php, showthread.php, member.php etc.) > "Unknown Location": /images/misc/blog/top-highlight.png |
Unknown Location": /images/misc/blog/top-highlight.png just means someone or something, probably a spider or bot, is viewing that image, nothing to worry about.
|
True Ozzy, except I think he is saying that he tested it as a logged in user and when he goes to 'normal' pages, he is getting that result on the WOL.
If so, please switch to a totally default style, disable all plugins via the config.php file, and make sure you are using all default files. Then see if you get the same result. |
I checked the WOL in a default style with default files and disabled plugins via config.php.
Still the same problem. I can't explain why this happens... |
Can we get a link to view the problem in the default style?

EDIT: If I disable "Can view detailed information on the location of users who do not have permission for a specific page" in the usergroup permissions, then the problem disappears. |
I found this - http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-10611 (Note, you must first login to the vbulletin.com forums as a Licensed User before you may see the Jira issue.) Basically, if a user is viewing the blog area, you will get an error on the WOL page.

Alright, thank you very much for your help guys :)
