Member Moderation Watch List
 

I'm looking for a way for Staff can add a member to a Moderation Watch List. There would be a section in the Mod CP or somewhere else of all the members on the Watch List. Pretty much this would be a way to keep tabs on certain members, as well as their posts. :)

Clone the user-group that you use for your registered users and call it "Watch List" (same permissions).

1.) Set ... Always Moderate This Group's Post: YES
2.) Change the users Primary User-group to "Watch List" usergroup.

This should get you basically setup.

That's what I was thinking of doing, however, I'm looking for it to be more in depth. I'd also like my Moderators and other Staff to be able to change them as well.

What do you mean assign it Moderators?

Sorry, I answer some of these questions in the middle of my busy day, between phone calls. Sometimes, I do not have enough time for my thoughts. I just type. :)

So I tried with a test account, and the Watch List group showed up as a permission group. I was able to leave the group since it was a public usergroup.

How are you leaving the group? What page are you on? Type out the last part of your URL?

Are you referring to (by any chance), "Social Groups" or "Forums"?

It's a public permission usergroup. I'm able to leave it via Group Memberships in my User CP.

Well why make it a public permission group, make it a group that the user can not switch out of.

But then Staff besides Admins can not add the user to the group.

Sounds like you need a mod coded then. I would suggest posting in the paid request forums. :)

Then only allow admins to add members to the group the only other way is get it programmed and that means paying someone to do it unless someone is kind enough to give you the code and where to put it.

I have a idea about this, how about a item in the Member Action Dropdown, that when you click, Watch User, it adds a icon in the postbit that only users that can moderate will see. This will make easy identification of the watched users. Also if the user is watched, the item in the Member Action Dropdown will say, Unwatch user, and by clicking on that will remove the icon from the users postbit.

Lol as I stated Moderators and other Staff will need to add them as well.

It sounds good, but with the addition of another way to view them besides in the posts. :)

As I said maybe someone might be kind enough to code it for you. The first part of my text meant as default only admins can that is why I said it needs coded

Do you happen to have some image in mind to use in the postbit if the user is watched? Something maybe around 140px x 20px

Currently I don't. Feel free to put something in and I'll change it later if need be. :)

Yeah I am finding it difficult to find something suitable, I will look later once the mod is functioning.

I might just throw something together if it helps.

Cool, I sent the zip in a PM to you. :) Let me know how it goes. Ohh, and only moderators and above should be able to see the link in the member action dropdown. But as I write this I need to test something else out. So If I don't send another zip by the time you get this, there will most likely be a update. So don't add a bunch of users to the list just yet, I need to hide the image in the postbit to only mods and above.

It looks good, just a couple things if I could. :)

1. Would it be possible for a profile link to add them?
2. On the MCP Watchlist, could the Post Count link to their posts?
3. A Note field so Mods can list reason for being watched?

You do realize you are asking for a aweful lot for a mod to be coded for free. :)

I can see about adding that. Gonna take a bit, and might require a uninstall and reinstall.
