Images decide no to show

After upgrade I added a new skin and voila images decide not to show. Heres the directory the images not showing shows /azskinz/dknights4/misc/navbit-home.png and here is where the image is /public_html/azskinz/dknights4/misc

what is the problem? I also moved the azskinz folder inside the forum folder and nothing. created forums folder and moved it there and still the same issue. Any suggestions?

They decided that because they went Union, and voted to go on strike.

Terrablade 09-27-2014 08:53 PM

oh come on now :/

Lynne 09-27-2014 08:59 PM

Link to the style please? And, direct link to that navbit-home.png that you aren't seeing?

Terrablade 09-27-2014 09:03 PM

sent you the site via PM Lynne. I posted the link above. not 1 of the images is loading

http://www.site.net/azskinz/dknights...avbit-home.png

but the image is in the right directory. /public_html/azskinz/dknights4/misc

The problem is going to be, the images aren't being called up or pointed to in the scripts.

Terrablade 09-27-2014 09:08 PM

yeah and the solution is?

ozzy47 09-27-2014 09:32 PM

Did you check the stylevars specifically the ImagePaths group?

Terrablade 09-27-2014 09:44 PM

yes and it looks ok http://prntscr.com/4qy55r

You make it much harder to help if no link to the site is given.

Terrablade 09-27-2014 10:58 PM

dont want the link out in public but ill send it to you

Max Taxable 09-27-2014 11:29 PM

Your images aren't loading even in the default style. If the locations and the calls are correct, then I suspect you might be having a issue with CloudFlare. Turn it off and see if these conditions persist.

Terrablade 09-27-2014 11:49 PM

I paused cloudflare but same

That won't do jack. You're still pointing to their nameservers, not the nameserver you have these images hosted on.

Terrablade 09-28-2014 12:29 AM

now its changed with no difference at all

ForceHSS 09-28-2014 01:12 AM

takes a while for nameservers to update

Terrablade 09-28-2014 01:15 AM

according to whatsmydns it already did

It can take 24-48 hours for a nameserver change to propagate throughout the internet. One location may see the change within minutes, others may take hours.

The fact that this is affecting your default style too, tells me it is unrelated to your installing of the new style. That of course is unless you removed or renamed the native "images" folder.

CF doesn't make things any faster, it merely caches static content and tries to deliver it from a close location to the particular user, to minimize "hops." If your site is well optimized and you have a decent host, CF really doesn't help much in the grand scheme. What it will NOT do is fix bloat, or optimize your site at all.

Unfortunately there's really no way to diagnose this issue other than looking at the file system and checking some things in AdminCP. I'm not interested in messing with it, now that I have seen the content of your site. I am pretty sure your content violates the licensing agreement.

Someone else will happen along, who might be happy to help. I'm off the case.

no problem, thanks for the help you provided

This image, with your site URL entered, definitely is a Page Not Found on your site. In fact, going to your site, I don't see a SINGLE image showing up on your site. It's not that I'm getting no permission to see the image, it is simply a Page Not Found. So, the images are definitely not in the correct place. Can you give us a screen shot of your public_html directory (just enough to view the /azskinz directory) and then a screenshot of your /azskinz/dknights4/misc directory (enough to see the navbit-home.png file).

http://prntscr.com/4ra1sq
http://prntscr.com/4ra25w

there they are

Lynne 09-29-2014 05:35 PM

When I go to your site, they are looking for the images in /dknights4/misc/navbit-home.png , not /azskinz/dknights4/misc/navbit-home.png . And, if I try to look for it at /azskins/dknights4/misc/navbit-home.png , I get redirected to your forum.php page.

Terrablade 09-29-2014 08:13 PM

yes it was me changing the directory to see if that would make any difference. the images are at /dknights4/misc/ now same as in the ftp but it didnt change anything :/

i could provide u ftp axs if you want. I dont know what else to do. im pulling my hair

Lynne 09-29-2014 09:25 PM

The site still has them listed as coming from just /dknights4/misc/ , not /azskinz/dknights4/misc/ . Or, are you saying you physically moved them to only be in dknights4/misc/ instead of in /azskinz/dknights4/misc/ ?

Can you try removing your .htaccess file and see if they then show up? (Your .htaccess is definitely doing some rewrites, so who knows what else it is doing.)

(You may want to run your page through a validator because there is a lot of incorrect html on the page.)

Terrablade 09-29-2014 10:11 PM

Bingo Lynne, that fixed it :D thanks a lot... Now another question.. currently these areas http://prntscr.com/4rlvno are pulling images from http://prntscr.com/4rlw54.
In 3.8 that area was being pulled from the images folder. and every one had a different icon like this http://prntscr.com/4rlwrq how is that achieved in 4.2? thanks

If you want your own status icons for a particular forum, you would enter a prefix, or directory, into the Forum Manager where it says "Prefix for Forum Status Images" (the same way as in vB3). Then you need to create a new icon for each of the following and either add the prefix to the beginning of the name, or put them in the directory you listed in that box:

forum_link-48.png
forum_new_lock-48.png
forum_new-48.png
forum_old_lock-48.png
forum_old-48.png
