Message when responding to post - Help

I am all of a sudden getting a message when trying to post waring about leaving the page. i haven't added anything or done any work so I do not understand it.

I have turned off auto message saving and have tried a few more things.

This is a huge weekend for our site and this problem is killing me. I am baffled.

Thanks,
Rich

I assume you tried disabling all mods?

RichieBoy67 09-19-2014 09:30 PM

I hate to do it but let me try.. not sure why it would just start out of the blue but I will check. It could be one of them

ozzy47 09-19-2014 09:33 PM

Just do it quickly by adding the line to your config file. When I want to test it, I just do it for my IP.

Code:

$my_unique_ip="00.00.000.000"; // Change this IP to your Unique IP.
if ($_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"]==$my_unique_ip) define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Unfortunately, you have to start here. Default templates, default JavaScript, no MODS.

Examine your server logs
Examine browser console (for the page).
Examine content headers (for the page).

This order helps...

:)

still getting the message even with plugs disabled..

That is a great idea! Thanks

PM me a admin account and I will take a poke around. This is when you reply to a post, and click submit?

RichieBoy67 09-19-2014 09:42 PM

Awesome.. Thanks bro

Yeah I use that quite often, help you debug things, without disrupting users on the site. :) I also use these as well.

Code:

if ($_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"]==$my_unique_ip) $config['Misc']['debug'] = true;
if ($_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"]==$my_unique_ip) ini_set('display_errors', true);

Do you think it's wise for someone to give out an admin account to someone they only know from this site?

No offense but it really is not a very smart thing to do. I certainly wouldn't do it.

I don't just pass out admin info to anyone. Ozzy has an excellent rep and I have known him here for a very long time.

Thanks though for the concern bro

Also, as a guy who does this stuff for a living I am getting peoples admin info almost daily. There is some trust involved. :)

They trusted Edward Snowden with admin accounts and look what happened there. He had top level clearance and the full trust of the US government and just look at what he did.

I learned early in life to trust no one except my family.

RichieBoy67 09-20-2014 01:53 AM

I do not think your family is going to be able to help you much if you have an issue you cannot figure out with your website.

Believe it or not there are many people here that can be trusted.

Also, I do not have any national secrets on my site. :)

Here when it says "Adviser" under their usernames, they are staff. They have earned that trust here.

Caution is always best though, you are right.

There's at least 20 site owners who have given me admin credentials for me to help them fix one problem or a set of problems, and I'm not staff or a adviser. But I enjoy helping people, never charge, and my reputation with their security is paramount to me - it's my whole reputation in this community.

Right back at you bro! :)

At some point you have to trust somebody (I didn't say everybody), but I think Ozy, Max Taxable and RichieBoy are all good fruit. :)

You can always run an audit program for your database, in case your suspicious.

Point well taken @Disco-Stu, there is always added risk. :)

This is true, I would not just give it to anyone. With that said though, I have had access to 1000 + sites in my time with vBulletin and coding for DBTech so I think I am pretty safe. :)
