What I tend to find is if they can't post links, they will post the link in words like
vbulletin dot org and so on But I guess if a spammer really want to get over things they will one way or another. Nice mod though... |
Hey ozzy, nice mod. Would you recommend using this as an extra layer with your "era of spam" tutorial?

Just to mention, I just had 3 spammers register to my site, they each putted one post with link.
Strange thing is that I use layers of spam protection, including the fact my forum isn't in English. I removed posts, banned them, but mod such as this is always welcome to have. |
Yeah sometimes the rouge human spammer does make it through, so this will help with them posting live links. :)
Thanks for marking as installed. :) |

Anyway a mod is very useful and marked as installed :) |
Not quite sure what you mean, you have a example?
|
www vbulletin org
I've had a similar example on my board last night (different address was used by a new member in new topic). It was a pure advertisement. |
Is that with or without the dot?
|
Without the dot
It it cointains the dot a mod works perfectly. |
Yeah I don't know if there is much I can do about that, but I can look into it at some point.
|
Just a small correction.
If is www . vbulletin . org the links are also allowed. I tested now on a test user. |
Yeah there is always ways around things, but I will see what I can do, if anything when I get some free time. I am a bit busy right now debugging some other things for people.
|
I just had a new registration email me as he was unable to activate his registration. I tested the registration process and found that this mod was preventing activation of registration. This mods error message would show when clicking the activation link or pasting it in the web browser.
Once I deactivated this mod the registration activation worked normally. |

Same result

Hmmm, I am using this mod without that issue. Are you using some kind of welcome post other than mine?
Ok let's try these files then. Then if it does work, try posting links in a post with a user that should not be able to. |
Great!
Activation worked and the new user I registered with my test was not able to post links. I am using DBT advanced registration which creates a welcome thread. |
Ahhh, I bet they did not set that as a automated message, so it is blocking it.
I will update the product later today with the new files. :) |
Thank you sir.
