Want to Play Music on forum?
 

Hello,

I want to play mp3 Music on my forum home page or either to play in another page showing radio button in navbar what actually i want to do is to play mp3 files from my pc when ever i am online when i am offline the Radio will be also offline?

Mark, can I strongly recommend you do NOT do this? If I go to a site where music suddenly starts blasting from my speakers, I leave. As a vBulletin Support person who goes to many sites a day, there are few things that bug me more than having to go to a site where the music comes on automatically. I would strongly suggest giving the user an option to turn it off (and actually setting the default as off).

Anyway, I have no idea if there is a mod, I would search for either "mp3*" or "player*" or "music*" (note the * at the end of all those search terms!) in vB4 Modes/Titles Only.

Also, you hardly gave anyone a chance to answer your question before you tried to bump it. This site is run by volunteers - we aren't around 24/7.

I agree with Lynne I hate it when I go to a site and music is playing and takes a long time to find out how to mute it

I hate this as well, music or videos that come on automatically is a quick way to get guests to just hit that x button or back button within the first 10 seconds ...

But if you really want to do this there are a few mp3 players that you can use to do this on your site, I would give you the links to them but I dont remember what they are and if I can do the search like Lynn suggested so can you ....

I don't read in his post anything about the mp3 auto playing. Thus the button he spoke of would be to make it play.

Yeah, but the first post is rather obscure.
Does he want to play the music only for himself? And if so, why does he not use a local media player? And if he wants the music to play for everyone, why not store the music on the server? And why only play it when he's online?

Honestly, this does not make sense to me at all.

Else, I absolutely agree: No autoplay of any music, sounds, videos. Makes me use the back-button every single time.

well thank you to all for there replies what i actally means to say about when i am online and offlines is that i want to play spesific things on specific timing like from 12:00AM to 2:00AM daily and it will be not auto play it thus show a ticker or only show on forum home Maybe i put a Name Radio Jockey when it is online it shows a blink green like online or offline of the id does and what i want to play is not the songs all time some time i may play a webinar mp3 for webmasters for e.g how to create links and what are there roles in search engines, some time for fun only songs and some time a religious speech maybe but it wll not be auto play and what you are saying is put it own server so if i am going to launch a webinar file i have to upload it evry time on server :/ Weather you can say i want to create my own FM radio style

You can take a look at my site but you need to register to use the MP3 player. I have it set up so the actual player runs in a child window and the user interface is located on all of my forum pages. This allows the user to go from page to page without the music being interrupted

This took a lot of work

fyi...the music does not start when a user first gets online...they start the player and get to pick what they want to listen to from over 300 hit songs...all legal and licensed by BMI and ASCAP. I pay the bill so there is no charge to the users

No. I took a Wimpy (that's the brand name) MP3 Player and made extensive changes to it and then created a GUI in a forum HTML block widget with the look and feel of the rest of my site style. Now it is integrated seamlessly. Then I added handshake logic to control the child window player with the main window GUI

I also added a My Favorites function for each user to create a playlist of their favorites as well as a full history of what songs were played. This history is updated real time and is viewable via the icons in the left hand CMS HTML widget I created. I added other features as well

Keep in mind that most if not all MP3 player apps will stop working the minute you go from one page on your forum site to another because they are tied to a specific page. That means you must remain on the page for as long as you want the player to play without it stopping. My approach using a child window allows the user to go to any page on my site with no interruption of the music. So if you start a song while viewing a forum you can then go to the arcade and play Asteroids without the music missing a beat.

No it would not but, it is customizable to match most color styles. It's nothing but a fully configurable mp3 player that plays files from your server.

The one thing it is really good for is using it as a podcaster with from one to ever how many podcasts you want to put in it.

It ain't got all that fancy stuff you mentioned. Thank goodness or I wouldn't be using it :)
