"Save Display Order" in Forum Manager for all forums not working!
 

The "Save Display Order" button in the Forum Manager stopped working for a reason I do not know...
The current display order is going by 100,200,300,... etc.

How do I fx this?

Approximately 300 and more coming...

I'd suggest that if you have 300 forums, and you're adding more to really rethink your forum strategy. However, you're likely running into issues with how much data can be passed in a single post to the webserver.

Why do you need 300+ forums?

I can edit the display order but I have to manually go into ever single forum and change the display number which takes a lot of time...

I will be needing approximately 600 forums so I will have to add every forum in the right order right now because the "Save Display Order" doesn't function...

I don't get any error messages, and I have tried disabling all plugins.. sigh...

Maybe you don't need that many forums, have you considered adding prefixes?

I will use prefixes too.
I do need that many forums because I know what I am doing.

Is vBulletin really limited to the amount of forums created and/or saving display order malfunctioning?

Where are you checking for error messages, what logs? Is PHP timing out?
Are PHP error messages turned off?

PHP is not timing out, error messages are not turned off...

Your passing too much data in the post array, and its getting discarded, probably by php/apache.

You need to reconfig php to allow more data. However, 300 forums is already to many forums. Why do you need 300+ forums?

You do not need 300 forums, so I ask again, why do you need 300+ forums? There are not 300 mmo's on the market.

And there are obviously more than 300 mmo's on the market...

Perhaps try 600 Threads ;)

number your forums so more can be place between each hundred

300
400
then that way more forums can be placed in between

etc...

Its not about the numbering of his forums, its that there is so much data in the post array and sub arrays that php is literately discarding it.

You don't need 300 forums, start small go big.

Create broader categories, and overtime specialize in forums as the population and traffic demands it.

If I saw 300+ forums and 0 topics, or even 100, hell, even 10,000 your forum would look like a ghost town.

I'd rather have 10-20 forums, with 500-1000 posts, that looks active.

No one wants to visit a ghost town of a forum, and you'll kill yourself trying to make it look active.

Well.. I guess I found a flaw of vBulletin then.
I will keep my forums and edit the display order manually one by one.

Not a flaw in vBulletin in the least, it is how your webserver/php is configured.

You can continue with your plan, but I think you're setting yourself up for failure.

@ Zackery yes, I know it's not about numbering his forums ;) we all know it's going to be a ghost town regardless if the php is set up on the server to handle it! :D

@ PhysXX, when starting a community, it's best to have as few forums as possible. However, you don't want to skimp for the sake of skipping...ensure that you have a solid, basic organizational structure that makes sense.

It appears, with 300-600 forums that you are trying to cover every topic or maybe every game. It sounds like your ready to start 300-600 threads/topics which will give you something to post. :) If you would like share your site URL in this thread or PM it to me and perhaps I can help make some suggestions. If not I will leave it with this last note... Later, if you do find that you have forum that covers a subject that doesn't need its own forum, your can always merge it with another forum. :)
