Anyone here based in the UK??

Im wondering if there are any of you based in the UK with your VBulletin Forum and if you host it in the UK also.

Which hosts do you use?

Im looking for alternative host server to host our forum. Currently with Nimbus in the UK. Someone suggested one in the states which was much cheaper for much more specs.

Whats the one you are with like? are you happy and would you be cool to share info? would be hugely appreciated!

We have a dedicated 1&1 server, and have been using these for the last 7+ years.

We have never had an real issues. Im not really sure what information you are after.

What are the others you've tried?

Ipage and hostgator. For the money you're spending on your host now, I think you could do better. I wouldn't care if it's hosted in the UK or US

I had a look at the link Paul M put up and it also looks like good value.

I am in the UK at the moment but any particular reason you want it based there for hosting purposes?

If anything i would advise you keep hosting somewhere else, but that is just for logistical and practical reasons by the looks of it (if Scots go independent the last thing you want is a bastard like Salmon to nationalize it as a vial interest etc).

i feel if its based in the uk, its easier and more convenient when it comes to site issues. Say for example the site goes down and i want to phone the host to get it up and running again.

Also, speed with people accessing it from the UK

User4567 06-28-2014 02:01 PM

Not sure if the speed is relevant but truthfully, that is above my pay grade...I will see if an old contact I had may have the trick for you.

In regards to the contact of the host this did used t be an issue before about calling international numbers but eventually cell and fixed line networks started to bundle in call packages with international minutes so the complaints died down some but certain hosts like GoDaddy went out of their way to put in British numbers to call (not non geographic, either) so they worked out some good customer compromises.

I will give it a shot to see If I may have what you are looking for, will post a reply in a few days letting you know, either way.
