Time to go to Firefox

Max Taxable 04-28-2014 05:09 PM

IE is crap, always been crap.

CAG CheechDogg 04-29-2014 08:47 AM

I haven't used IE in years and the only reason it even runs on my laptop is because of the updates ....

BBNZowner 05-13-2014 07:16 AM

IE needs to be put to rest by MS (and the team - if one still exists - put to work on better things elsewhere); or a have a huge overhaul.

Zachery 05-13-2014 06:06 PM

Its already been patched.

All browsers have critical issues in them from time to time, your favorite Firefox, is no exception.

IE10+ is fine, its really time to drop the dated IE sucks analogies.

BBNZowner 05-13-2014 07:24 PM

It might be fine now, but for some people that's too late. My university now only has Chrome and Firefox on the majority of their systems, IE is no where to be found.

Zachery 05-13-2014 07:27 PM

Tomorrow a massive firefox or chrome security issue will happen, no news coverage will occur, and the world will be dumber for it.

Life goes on.

IE gave me the Vb worry. Every time they upgrade it feels like 5.0

Zachery 05-13-2014 08:13 PM

Every IE upgrade since 8 has been a massive step in the right direction.

But umm.... it does suck. Especially supporting it, sucks.

Zachery 05-13-2014 11:47 PM

Chrome, and firefox have just as many oddities that are niggly as IE does.

billstelling 05-14-2014 09:08 AM

Yep.. They all have their little problems but all of them are pretty good today. It's much easier to code for them now, even IE. Styling is not such the pain in the ass it was a few years back.

Zachery 05-14-2014 05:38 PM

Just as an example, while working with Iconic, Chrome was doing some really terrible AA on the font lib itself, I had to muck with it a fair amount to get it looking good for chrome and everyone else. Also, chrome was having a bunch of other display issues that neither IE11 or Firefox were.

tbworld 05-14-2014 06:35 PM

All the current browsers are coming to terms with CSS2 and the easier adopted CSS3, but using the harder implements of CSS3 (especially canvas) and it gets a bit wonky. Like @Zachery says they all have their issues.

That being said I am glad IE6, IE7, FF3, are dead. I could include a bunch more to the list. :)
Unfortunately, you still have to feature detect.
