Indept Page Speed / Site Load Help Please
If anyone could help with this it'd be GREATLY appreciated. I've been noticing for sometime now that my site is UNBELIEVABLY slow. Like a turtle with 2 legs that walked in some glue slow. Yes, I am using Godaddy, which apparently is a server error, I guess, but surely all below can't be cause of them. Would someone please help me?
I just ran a Google Page Speed Test, and it reads as follows: Mobile: [!] 65 / 100 Speed Should Fix: Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content Your page has 1 blocking script resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page. None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML. Remove render-blocking JavaScript: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs.../jquery.min.js Reduce server response time In our test, your server responded in 1.2 seconds. There are many factors that can slow down your server response time. Please read our recommendations to learn how you can monitor and measure where your server is spending the most time. Consider Fixing: Prioritize visible content Leverage browser caching Setting an expiry date or a maximum age in the HTTP headers for static resources instructs the browser to load previously downloaded resources from local disk rather than over the network. Leverage browser caching for the following cacheable resources: http://logos.tapatalk.com/2013/12/ad...36-eb93-HD.png (expiration not specified) Desktop: [!] 69 / 100 Speed [!] Should Fix: Optimize images Reduce server response time In our test, your server responded in 1.2 seconds. Minify HTML for the following resources to reduce their size by 5.5KiB (9% reduction). Minifying http://www.mysite.com/ could save 4.8KiB (9% reduction) after compression. Thank you in advance ! (I hope :D) |
Chances are you're just on a crowded server. You can get a decent, blazing fast VPS on Linode.com for $20/mo, and if I were you, I'd do that.

Provide link to the site please.

You don't have anything blocking rendering, you have other major issues. See PM.

Well, the same applies as in your other, already answered post:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=310691 You are on Godaddy. The resolution to your issues therefore is: leave godaddy. |

There's no way possible that Godaddy is the root cause of what I'm experiencing. They may not be as fast as others, but there's no way Godaddy is the problem here. It honestly seems as if when a problem is posted, everyone's like 'Are you using Godaddy cause if so that's your problem' and that is just not logical thinking. |
Fix your 404 errors on your FORUMHOME page first, then I can take another look at it. Right now you have excessive http requests and your image downloads total 1.3MB.
Get the easy things out of the way first. :) |

You have way to many forums, to have 0 posts in them all.
This would speed your page load times up by having less html. You should take a look at getting rid of excess forums, or hiding them until they're necessary. You do not need 300~ forums for your Threads94Posts168 forum |
tbword and Max Table, thank you very much. What I can't understand or figure out is the path for the Subforum Status Icons. This url is a 404 cause it has the word 'subforum' in it, as do all the others.
See: http://www.mysite.com/images/statusi...rum_old-48.png The others on the main forum show up fine cause under the Main Forum, Style Options setting I just added it like this: Adem/ and it doesn't produce a 404, but then again there isn't the word subforum in there either. I'm assuming I'd transfer the whole file of the particular icons (forum-48's) like I did in with the Main ones, but with them dropped them in Images-->>Status Icon (and dropped there). How do I do this for the subforums? Thank you! ScoobyDoo |
You don't need custom statusicons for sub-forums to start with. Just dump them. All it is doing is increasing your bandwidth load and really giving you nothing in return.
You have 290 requests which is a ridiculous number. And are loading 1.5 MEGAbytes on browsers. Slim this down, starting with doing away with the custom statusicons for subforums. |

You might consider using prefixes as a method to reduce forums, yet maintain the ability to sort by topic. Your amount of calls is one of your major problems. |

Thanks Max Table. I'm actually gonna use Lynne's, and I planned on it this week but ran into the very slow issue, and now thanks to your help I realize where the problem is located. Would using the prefixes eliminate the problem? Well, I know it'd apparently save on bandwidth, but even though I don't need the status icons for the Subforums, is there a way I could use them? Should I delete the Status Icons for the Subforums now, install the Prefixes Mod first, and add the subforum status icons later? I'd really like them there. Thanks again Max Table! |
If you can keep your page to 400-600 KB you should be okay, depending on the number of simultaneous users and the load on your server. Your browser's development tools will help you determine these totals.

Thank you tbworld. I could hit the like button again so I had to do it this way. :D |
Glad to help. :)

Truly, I would simply HIDE most of those forums until you start seeing a need for them, let your posting traffic over time decide this.
The subforum statusicons do nothing for you but satisfy your own vanity friend. |

Most all of us when we were noobs though, want the site to look really dazzling - to ourselves. At the end of the day the dazzle does nothing for the site and often is detrimental. |
When you start a brand new forum, you want maybe 5-10 forums MAX, this includes categories.
You don't branch out until you need to. It makes your site look dead, even if its not. Only add new forums/categories as demand grows and you need to specialize. Even the biggest forums on the net don't have much more than 50~ forums. |
Thanks Zack, and sorry for the last post/reply as tbworld brought it to my attention that maybe my response wasn't appropriate.....just high hopes and can't let others see that only certain ones are included......
