I've tried to match the sites with a similar red theme. Also made images on the forum to match the logo.

Forum looks good but too many strong colors on it, i suggest you should organize your footer content, it will be better. :)

Same as above, too much red going on in the header and navbar. Plus I did a search for my cousin Carl Frampton and couldn't find anything....new champ on the horizon :p

I dont have a clue how to do the footer like your website webmaster.

I was looking at a few paid templates/styles that come with a professional looking footer like yours.

I am in middle of updating my Joomla news site, but once thats sorted I will look into buying a new template/style.

It just, doesn't knock me out or even ring the bell for me. Obvious v4 is obvious.

The CMS is just horrendous - 5.8 MEGAbytes loaded... On 226 requests. Really, really bloated page.

If you make the header smaller it would look better, also you seem to have a pop up to this site http://www.bet365.com/en/?script=mainpage.asp if you try to change the style it could pop up at other times not sure if you put it there or someone got access to your site ie a hacker

The joomla site is in the middle of being updated and improved thats why its bad just now. I have someone working on improving it.

Thats why you can see the Joomla Debug Console at the bottom of the page.

The front page doesnt usually look like that.

We had problems updating it to 3.2 but hopefully it will be sorted by the over the weekend.

Not trying to be a pinhead but, it doesn't matter what platform it is or what update it has, it is nearly 6 megabytes. It's the content, not the platform. That is equivalent to downloading three music numbers, mp3 format. Show me a fat page and I will show you a slow page, every time.

You can trim 3.8 MB off that just by using gzip compression. There's another 600kb savings available compressing the images. Neither of these has anything to do with upgrading the platform.

HiVelocity Hosting is part of the settings for each mod even the one i gave you you will need to check and change

Your main website does take a while to load.

The vbulletin site loads fine. I agree about there being quite a bit of red. You might want to play with the navbar and make it grey like your status icons and see how that looks. Or change the background to #E9E9E9 which is the same as your main background (although I'd remove the gradient then). That might also work if you want to keep the red navbar.

I did a few speed tests and they said Yard Barker is loading slowly.

I am going to contact Yard Barker and see if I can get out of the signed contract.

Since adding Yard Barker my Google ads has dropped a lot. Hopefully that will speed the site up a bit.


Thats for your feedback. Improving loading time is something I am looking to do once I have some spare cash.

I saw a really nice vbulletin forum today, not not sure if its a custom template or one you can buy. How do you find out what template it is?

It's not "yard barker" and shopping around for tests is like having 4-5 scales in your bathroom and picking and choosing which one to believe when you weigh yourself.

WebPageTest is actual browsers, actual connections and it shows everything that loads and how long it takes. And how many KB each call, is. It is scientific and objective.

You have nearly 6 megabytes of content on that page and that IS the problem. Not "yard barker."

Optimize the site using the tools WebPageTest provides - you'll save tons of bandwidth and get a speedy site out of the deal. And you DON'T need cash to do it. Anyone telling you that is trying to rip you off. All it takes is a little bit of work on your part.

I could optimize your site in less than two hours because I have done it for so many. There's nothing magical or difficult about it, it just takes some work.

Is there any good guides that you could reccommend?

Over at Ozzy's site we have a optimization workshop forum, with lots of case studies and site owners who were successful in optimizing their own sites, for free. 90% of the guides and tools used come from the WebPageTest site - it's Google's tech chief Patrick Meenan's site and there's no charge to use the tests and the tools.

When you're ready to roll up your sleeves and have some time to work on it, start a thread in the optimization workshop and myself and a few others will be around to help you out. Once you understand what is really going on when a browser visits a site you'll see this is easy stuff.
