[OzzModz] First Post On All Pages Per Thread/Forum
Another mod brought to you by,
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/01/1.png Here is a small modification you can use to the first post on all pages, per forum or by thread id. It is a simple installation, just import the product XML, ozzmodz_firstpost_display You can edit the options under the settings, [OzzModz] First Post Display Settings Complete Feature List
Q. Why do I need such a thing, you ask? A. You may have a thread that has tens or hundreds of pages, and this will allow you to see the original post on all pages, much like you see here on vB.org in the modification threads. Q. How do I use the custom template? A. Note: Make sure you know what you are doing if you attempt this! This may be a bit tricky for some users. You can copy what ever template you are using, ( postbit or postbit_legacy ) into the template, ozzmodz_firstpost_display_postbit. Now once you have done that, you can change the styling of the post, by adding css to the elements. For example, if you want the first post to have a different background, when it is on any other page except for the first page, you can look for this in the template, Code:
<div class="postbody"> Code:

Can you PM me a admin account so I can see what the issue may be on your site?
|
Excellent mod and it's nice idea to include option for choosing which usergroups see first post on every page, so it doesn't creates problem with SEO.
|
Thanks, glad ya like it. I figured it may be a possibility to have issues with SEO and duplicate content, so that's why I added that.
Thanks for marking as installed. :) |
Thank you for making it.
|
Glad ya like it, and thanks for marking as installed.
|
Installed. Thank you Sir.
|
Glad ya like it, and thanks for marking as installed.

This mod seem to modify the RSS behaviour, before I install this mod, it wasn't included all the useless data for RSS stream, now it looks like it copy the entire postbit template and parse it to RSS stream, do you have any fix for RSS?
|
Can you show me a screenshot of what it looks like with the mod enabled, and the mod disabled?
|
This is a bit more complicated than I thought, please give me a few days to analyze what is the problem.
|
installed and work fine, thx
|
Glad to hear, and thanks for marking as installed. :)
|
I tried your mod and like megabink 'it does not work for me either. It's not that hard of a mod to setup, I did everything but fool with the custom toggle and sing it a lullaby.
Sorry no install.... will keep it tagged and check back later to see if it's working for everybody. |
Well I never got any admin credentials form megabink, perhaps you con supply me with a admin account, so I can see what is going on.
|
Great Mod =) almost what I'm looking for. How hard would it be to implement this on a per thread basis as well? Let's say a forum member would be able to choose if the first post should stay on top on all pages.
On my forum some threads would greatly benefit from this, other threads not really... |
Now you can do this by setting thread ID in ACP manually, but it really would be great if we can set it in front end, with usergroup permissions in place (who can make thread's first post visible on all pages).
|
That will be something I look into for a future version. :)

I have set Set Template to Custom
I have copied my postbit_legacy to ozzmodz_firstpost_display_postbit I have changed <div class="postbody"> to <div class="postbody" style="background: darkgrey;"> It works great for showing the first post on next pages, but it does not use the ozzmodz_firstpost_display_postbit content |
That makes no sense, if you have that option ticked, and remove the contents of the ozzmodz_firstpost_display_postbit what happens?
|

It does show first on all pages just fine, but I would really like the css for it to make sense :) It simply does not use the Ozz template :( I run vB 4.2.2 |
If you want, pm me a admin account and I can look into it for you. :)

|
No, either the standard post bit or a custom one, not multiple templates.

Sure, did that for all forums as I need it on all places except for guests
Edit: For some reason after I marked all forums and clicked "save" settings were not saved...repeated this several times and 3rd time it was saved...for some reason it did not save options first 2 times did not noticed that after first try...it was not marked after save... Maybe cause I got bunch of forums marked around 30 or so... Now its ok :] nominated rated thank you Edit2: not nominated as I cant, voted for mod of a month :] |
That's certainly strange behavior. But glad it's sorted anyway. :)
|
Maybe because I have bunch of forums +30 so...?
Anyways, just one small question: Quote:
|
Correct, that is if you are going to use the custom option. :)
Copy the entire postbit_legacy to ozzmodz_firstpost_display_postbit, then change the setting to custom. |
