Error when enabling Facebook Connect

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone, I am using vb 4.2.2 and I wanted to enable the facebook platform so my users can log in using their facebook accounts.

I got the app ID and Secret ID and Facebook Support says : Supported.

But I keep getting this error :(

steve3402000 12-05-2013 01:49 AM

Mine has never worked, it sucks LOL

tbworld 12-05-2013 03:50 AM

Unfortunately, from your error I cannot tell what the problem is. All I can tell you is that you are not connected to Facebook, which is useless information to you. My guess is that you do not have the facebook application setup correctly.

Read through the documentation and dump key variables in PHP.
https://developers.facebook.com/docs...ettingstarted/

Sorry, I do not have anything else to suggest, since you have given us so little information.

ForceHSS 12-05-2013 04:23 AM

Have it working on vb 4.2.2 so if you are having a error then you have not set something up right or try replacing the php file with a fresh one

Lynne 12-05-2013 05:04 PM

It looks like you have some missing files. Check Maintenance > Diagnostics > Suspect File Versions and see if any files are listed as missing or not containing expected contents.

It seems like nothing is missing, what could happen If I try what ForceHSS said? Replacing the php file will affect my forum?

Lynne 12-05-2013 06:01 PM

If you replace the php file with a fresh one, that is fine. But if the file isn't showing up in Suspect File versions as missing or not containing expected contents, then nothing will change.

Replacing the file with vb default will not do it any harm

Thanks :)

Then check settings for your fb @dev fb app

billstelling 12-05-2013 09:44 PM

If you do not have the stuff set up on facebook for your forum it has nothing to call to. So FB kicks it back with that error. Just turning it on in vb will not automatically make it work. It's a pain in the butt to set up all the stuff they want done but in the end it's worth the hassle.

You have to insert the keys they provide in the facebook options page in vb as well..

How about a screenshot of the actual page where you set up the app.

I mean on the dev.facebook.com site.

Digital Jedi 12-06-2013 06:59 AM

If it can't find the function, and the files are all there, then it's possible you have the URL in the app pointing to the wrong site. A typo perhaps?

I'm talking about the app settings, not your Admin CP. What URL is the app pointing to?

It's been a while since I used Facebook integration, but I'm pretty sure your App Domain can't be empty.

What should I type there? I put my site url www.domain.com and domain.com and it says:
Changes saved. Note that your changes may take several minutes to propagate to all servers.

But when I enable the fb connect from admincp I keep getting the same error :(

Digital Jedi 12-06-2013 04:36 PM

Give it a few more minutes then check again. Also, I believe you don't need to included the www, since just putting the domain treats automatically inserts a wildcard option. If worst comes to worst, reset your key, check for spelling errors, etc, etc.

ZUCCO 12-06-2013 04:39 PM

Yup , I delete the www. now it says mysite.com because I dont have subdomains

As I said before I get this error: /public_html/includes/class_facebook.php on line 255

Should I configure that file?

Lynne 12-06-2013 04:48 PM

^^ what he said.

Also, have you tried disabling all your plugins and seeing if you still get the same error?

ZUCCO 12-06-2013 04:57 PM

Same error, I guess I wont use it

Timac LEO 03-02-2015 06:56 AM

I also fails, I still can not fix it, I hope you help me, I want people to be able to connect vbullentin 4.2.2 and facebook.
