Rebuild attachment thumbnails
Does anybody know if this is a known issue?
On rebuilding thumbnails, each attachment says error. They are all stored in the file system and worked before but now this.. They all display in their rightful positions too.. Thanks... |
Make sure your files truly exist where it expects to see them. If they are, see the following post:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...mbnails-errors In the future, please attach the error message as it will give us more clarity on the problem. Be sure to check your error logs as well. :) |

Strange thing is that when this happens, (3 or4 times before) I also lose the ability to edit articles.
I think they may well be related somewhere.. Rebuilding attachments looks like this.. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386062362 |
Also something else that maybe related is in the picture above.
Delete the last attachment on page which is number 77, I then go to attachments/view newest and the newest is attachment 119 and that was the last uploaded.. Buggered if I know.. |
Are your attachments stored in the database or the filesystem?

These errors in the picture above will just not go away...
I also open manage attachments from the edit post function and get this.. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386328261 These 2 rogue attachments don't exist but they show here.. Anybody got any idea at all? This is beginning to be a real pain.. Thanks.... |
What version of vB and what version of PHP?
|
Apache version 2.2.26
PHP version 5.3.27 MySQL version 5.5.34-log Architecture x86_64 Operating system linux vB 4.2.1 This is a persistent problem, and ongoing problem that I have been having for months.. I really have no idea what is going on here, or where it begins or ow to fix it.. I have tried all mods off, default style, no .htaccess. I have an outstanding thread at vB.com about the very same issue..It is preventing any further development and is my one and only issue.. Apart from not being able to edit an article but I think they are part of the same problem.. |
I asked this before, but it was not answered.
Are your attachments stored in the database or the filesystem? |
Sorry, I am consumed by this mess.
On the live site, in the file system, on the test site in the DB... I tried both on both sites and makes no difference... Even when I go to acp/manage attachments/search, most of the attachments do not have a name of the person that uploaded..It seems that they are not getting recorded for some reason..Both in the file system and the DB.. |
What host are you using or are you hosting the sites on your own equipment?
Who setup your server (php, mysql, apache)? (I already have the versions from the other post). Are you hosting both sites on the same server? |
Both sites on the same server at JustHost.com
Not sure about the other questions... What are the required answers and I will attempt to configure to what it is that is necessary to sort this out..? It is preventing anything from happening...i.e. I am feeling it is a bit pointless to continue until this is out of the way for good.. Thanks.. |
I will not need the other answers. I can derive them.
Give me an exact procedure that does not work on your 'TEST' system. So I can simulate the call here and write a quick diagnostic routine. A simple upload, not through the flash up-loader from the main forum will do. Something like that. Describe to me what is not working exactly, from the test you just made. The log data, php_errors, attachment log. Please make sure that you have disabled all hooks via 'config.php' and you are using the vbulletin default style. Please send me the test image you uploaded. If you have access to your PHP configuration file - please pass that along to me, either in private, or sensor it, and attach it here. |
Shall get back to you on this as my battery is at 10 %..
Thanks so far... |

Hello there..
To get accurate tests it is better that you do it yourself.. To be honest, I have no idea about PHP logs, attachment logs etc..I can disable hooks and stuff which I have done but I am at a loss regarding everything else.. I don't even know how to set up a temp admin account, too many settings in the back of this thing... If you want, you can sign in as me and see what I see... Let me know if this is good.. Thanks.. |

I can't find them in the ACP... And a link shows this message.. "Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator" Sorry chaps but this has been going on for just too long now.. |

Also, whilst I am still on the subject...
Why is it that one admin gets this when they click on 'manage attachments.. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386686996 And another admin gets this after clicking on the same button.. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386686996 This is all quite distressing... Thanks all.... |
They get a different screen because of their own user Settings. Settings > General Settings > Enhanced Attachment Uploading .

Ha ha, thank you Lynne, that goes part of the way...
Still have issues concerning attachments that don't exist showing in manage attachments though.. They have all gone now.. LOL https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1386696826 |
Is this a site that was upgraded from vB3? I know there are some issues with the Scheduled Task that is supposed to remove old attachments.
|
No, not an upgrade, it is a 4.2.1 installation only.
The main issue is that it appears that attachments are not being recorded properly. 1. After clicking on the add photo icon, the photo is uploaded but I don't see it in the editor, what I see is attachment tags and a number.. 2. I go to look at the attachments ACP and see the attachment but no name to whom the attachment was uploaded by.. 3. When I open the attachment manager, I get lots of empty spaces showing pic titles but no pic. 4. After the pic has supposedly been uploaded to the forums/cms/blogs, all that is seen is a link.. If I copy the link location and edit the post, add image tags to the link, then the pic is seen.. 5. When rebuilding attachment thumbs, I get error all the way through. These attachments are lost somewhere, I don't think this is normal behaviour.. I can move the attachments from the file system to the DB and it tells me they have been moved successfully. I try to rebuild again, same result. I go to the file system, the folder is 0777 perms and the files inside the folder are 0666, not sure here either.. I have cleared the folder and then moved them again from DB to file system and again, same result.. Baffled.. --------------- Added [DATE]1386782403[/DATE] at [TIME]1386782403[/TIME] --------------- Ok, last attempt at trying to sort this out.. Simple request... How do I delete all attachments for sure? Even the ones that apparently have already been deleted? |
