[OzzModz] Add As Friend In Postbit, has won MOTM for January 2014 Mod of the Month!

This is just a small mod, that will allow you to show a Add As Friend button in the postbit.
This mod may increase participation on your site, as users become more familiar with the friends system. As their friend base grows, they may be more willing to return.

It is a simple installation, upload the contents of the upload folder and import the product XML, product-ozzmodz_addfriend_postbit

You can edit the options under the settings, [OzzModz] Add As Friend In Postbit Settings

Complete Feature List

• Option to disable the mod completely.
• Option to choose which usergroups can see the buttons.
• Option to select one of seven different locations in the postbit to display the buttons.
  • Above Every Post Container = Above every post on the page.
  • User Info Left = Below the users title.
  • User Info Right After Posts = After the post count in the postbit.
  • User Info Right = Above the instant messenger icons.
  • Message Area Start = In the post container above the posts.
  • Signature Start = Above the signature.
  • Signature End = Below the signature.
  • Postbit Controls Area = Before the IP icon and the Report post icons.
• Option to set the path and image name to the image you want to use for the add friend button.
• Option to set the path and image name to the image you want to use for the is friend button.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps me know how many people are using my work, giving me extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

added already not showing on postbit horizontal using option - Postbit Controls Area (Legacy & Horizontal)

this option worked ok - User Info Right After Posts (Legacy & Horizontal)

Image is_friend.png is not displayed even if user was added to contact list (still icon add friend). Add_friend.png is working correctly in every option in postbit.

to displayed the images,you must edit the images options like that

It's done accordingly to screenshot. I switched location To Add As Friend Image. I pasted is_friend.png and icon's working... When is setup originally is friend not displaying...

I'll look on my dev site when I get home from work and see if I can see what is going on. If I can not replicate the issues, I will need access to someones site that is having tie problems. :)

the icons change fine and the default location works properly, just some of the displays dont work correctly... but it does work!

it is just version1 I am sure he will fix the issues, hes a great coder!

also remember custom themes could cause these problems where images dont display properly, i am sure it was tested on the default style and worked perfect using that style.

Yeah it does, and was coded on the default style. I also checked it on a few custom styles.

faisaly.com, if you want, can you send me a admin account, that has a friend, and a link to a post, where I can see the icons, and the steps to do to reproduce the issue? If so I can look into it when I get home from work.

Part of the solution with this is that the default location for images is pre-filled and the image titles are without underscore..i.e. images/ozzmodz/friends/add friend.png

when it should be images/ozzmodz/friends/add_friend.png
As is with images/ozzmodz/friends/is friend.png

There are other issues, like is friend is not showing up but not got round to that yet.

You are correct, I have change the XML to fix that. It will only work on new installs. So if you want, delete the mod, and re-install the new one.

Or simply change the image settings to the following:
add_friend.png
is_friend.png

That's what I get for changing the images in the middle of development. :(

Edit... I am trying to use the Postbit Controls Area.. Actually I tried a few different locations.. Used default theme and a few custom styles. They aren't showing up for me. Its enabled and set to the correct usersgroups..

The Add Friend works but the Is Friend Will not show Text or image any ideas?

You have the images set correctly under options?

The mod isn't showing up for me at all, doesn't matter where I place it.

I wonder if something else is conflicting with it.

Is_friend shows nowhere...

I tried all of the settings and Postbit Controls Area (Legacy & Horizontal) is the only place that displays the image add_friend.png.. Other settings only display the link with the user name.. The link works but still no is_friend.png after the link is carried through..

This should fix everyone's issues. I would say the best way to ensure you get updated properly, is to uninstall the 1.0.0 version and install the 1.0.1 version.

There was some phrases that were missing in the xml, I had created them, but did not assign them to the product. So even when I uninstalled the mod, and reinstalled it, it worked for me. This is because the phrases were assigned to vBulletin, so on my site, they were always there. I also fixed another issue with the images not displaying right if you choose, Above Every Post Container = Above every post on the page.

Now I was thinking as I did a test and sent a friends request that there is only 2 images

which made me think, there should be 3 :) one for pending friends request :)

Always, Need to mark install its the only way to get the proper support But I also hit that like button :D

This mod hates me. I removed the old, uploaded the new, set usergroups, select Postbit Controls Area, don't need to touch images... clicked save and it doesn't show for me on Postbit. Weird.
