Need help in Moving site from one server to another Server

I have few domains on two different servers with the same host. Now I am going to shift my vbforum files from A server to B server. I have no experience in moving site files permanently from one server to another.

Now I want to know that what steps should I take before and after shifting site files from A to B server without any errors.

Please guide me step wise.

Thanks in advance.

All good then...

You did not do a search before you asked your question. That information is readily available at vbulletin.org and vbulletin.com. :)

Do you know where it is exactly?

I have gone through the vb support but got confused. As i am new to this operation, I have tried my self with a spare domain name in simple steps.
  • Assigned the test domain to my target server.
  • Uploaded all the files to the root
  • Uploaded the sql file to the temp directory
  • Created DB username and DB name
  • Imported the sql file
  • Updated the config.php
  • Succeeded.

The same procedure has been implemented on the Original domain.

Now the site is on and working fine with the Original one and as of now I found no issues.

I think this method may works only if we have accounts with same host.

Anyhow thanks

DemOnstar , I am from south Asia and my mother tongue is not English. So I couldn't maintain a good grammar like you. take it lite...

I think DemOnstar, Disco_ave and ozzy47 are misunderstanding me.

I said my answer is No means that is for his first question Have you used Paulm's mod for backing up your forum?

My second answer:
And now my site is on and no issues found. Thanks for your helping nature.:up:
This is for his help offered for me.

I think now you guys can understand this in +ve way. And more over have you ever found that i have answered to some one as you are thinking? I have never behaved like that.

Also I want to tell you one thing. I have downloaded so many hacks from this site. Even, I found some of those are not really useful / Important for me(after testing on my site), I am nominating and giving full rating to every one. Because, I can understand their efforts and hard work and dedication to reach the top. I don't want to disappoint them. I thought, My ratings and encouraging words on their work may be helpful in doing best in their works.

It was no worries at all really for me, having been reading forums for years. It can be too easy to read someone's comment wrong......Glad you've got it all sorted :D

Hosts are like Jedi's in Star Wars, some vary in skill level not everyone is Obi Wan or Yoda, some can't even use the Force correctly :erm:.

DemOnstar 12-05-2013 02:51 PM

And why not just copy your files and move them over manually?

With your DB intact and your file system correct, how is this not just the clicking of the left button of your mouse?

Your site URL submitted in your ACP and all should be good...

Well, at least that is what I would expect..

Perhaps I am way off the mark?

And somewhere in this thread will discover how to do this. hopefully swift transition...
Is it really that difficult??

Even my new host when I switched hosts handled moving everything.
