Remove vBSEO and 301 redirect old url's to mod_rewrite URL of vBulletin 4?

Hello,
should I remove vBSEO from my forum? I want to remove vBSEO and redirect the url's to the vBulletin 4 mod_rewrite URL's.
Are there any case studies about removing vBSEO and move to vBulletin 4 url's with 301 redirect?

Are the vBSEO functions outdated and a risk for search engine ranking?

Fore me, there is no alternative to vBulletin. vBulletin is easy to use and to configurate. There are a lot of plugins for it.
I hate the design of XenForo and other forums software. I think I will stay on vBulletin for sure.
vBulletin has the functions I need.

Some peoble said, the vBSEO functions are outdated and very risky with SEO.
Further details:

I removed vBSEO and 301 redirect to vBulletin mod_rewrite URL's on one of my big board forums and i can't believe how megafast my forum is.
Should I remove vBSEO on all of my forums?

Best regards
Matthias

Just disable it in plugin manager. Save yourself alot of work.

Unfortunately, that doesn't eliminate the security vulnerabilities.

Dude.... do you not see that this thread is almost 2 years old?

Yes. And your point is?

Either way, upgrade to DBSEO, or ditch VBSEO and use this to rewrite the url's.

Redirecting URLs after uninstalling vBSEO

That link is dead, Ozzie. Use this one instead:

https://web.archive.org/web/20130122...all-vbseo-238/

But it only redirects threads, not forums.

See also http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...stalling-vbseo for how I resolved it.

Redirecting forums is, in my opinion, not that important. Forums don't hold real content, just a list of topics. For that, it's enough to let google's spiders do their work.

But it is also not really hard to do, at least if the forumid is present in the vBSEO URL. If you've chosen to not show id's in vBSEO URLs, now you learn why that was a bad idea.

Tselarius, I think you are mistaken in asserting this:

For anyone looking, here is a tool to help configure redirects after removing vbseo..
http://tools.geekpoint.net/xfseo/
If you haven't removed vbseo yet, you can upload your config file and get all the rewrites you need with very little work. ;)

Sorry, I have no idea what you are trying to tell me, your english (google translator?) doesn't make much sense. My guess is you do not really understand what I'm saying. I do not say that redirecting is not important. It is. Redirecting forumdisplay is not important compared to showthread.

This works great for the forums but doesn't redirect article links in the CMS. Any thoughts on what I should add to .htaccess to go from:

Code:

http://saabworld.net/content/stromqvist-extreme-saab-1026/
to:

Code:

http://saabworld.net/content.php?r=1026-Stromqvist-extreme-Saab

I wouldn't mind going from vBSEO URLs to vB Mod Rewrite Friendly URLs instead of the standard vB uRLs. Would you first convert from vBSEO URLs to Standard vB URLS and then add the MRF rewrite rules to the .htaccess file?

Cheers. Went to the site but unfortunately it isn't currently reachable. Does anyone know if the script is available elsewhere?
