[OzzModz] Usergroups Excluded From Character Limits

This modification will allow you to remove minimum/maximum character limits for various items, per item, per usergroup.

The following are what you can remove the limits on.

• Minimum character limit in posts.
• Maximum character limit in posts.
• Maximum character limit in PM's.
• Maximum character limit in visitor messages.
• Maximum character limit in group descriptions.
• Maximum character limit in group messages.

There is a few other mods out there like this one, but I feel this has more control over usergroup / item selection.


It is a simple installation, just import the product XML, product-ozzy_character_exclusion

You can edit the options under the settings, Ozzy: Character Exclusion Settings

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.

Installed this on 4.2.2. It doesn't seem to be working.

I've found that the ozzy_character_exclusion_settings group is created and all the settings in that group contain the correct values.

But the code that changes the postminchars global variable doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

Nope. I just downloaded the latest version, 1.1.0 (I had 1.0.0) after uninstalling the previous one. Installed and it still doesn't work.

Well that makes no sense at all, could you pm me a admin account so I can test it out on your site.

I tried on local server and it is not working, still have this error message

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

Change hook location of "Exclude Groups From Min / Max Characters" from parse_template to global_start and it works.
Mark as installed. No more typing lot of dots to post short words :)

Thanks again, Chris! It's getting to the point that I have so many of your "Mods" installed, when I open up my settings it takes me a minute or so to find the one I'm looking for!! Maybe the next mod you should work on could be a admincp menu addition, like you have for OzzModzClassified, that includes only your mods! :D
