[DBTech] DragonByte Reviews v1 (vB4)

DragonByte Reviews is an advanced review system that allows you to get your users interacting with your forums on a new level

Uses

With a wide range of permissions, you can allow your users to create/rate reviews, and customize it to your liking. You can also setup separate instances of the review system with different rating questions, custom fields and a review front page look.

You can even tie the review system into any product system with a little custom work.

Major Features

Multiple Instances: You can run an unlimited number instances of the review system on the same forum with same set of files! Each instance can have a different look and feel to it with the help of the customizable display blocks, custom fields and custom rating questions.

AJAX integration: We used AJAX wherever we could to help reduce the page reloads, including adding/viewing comments and rating reviews

Images in WYSIWYG editor: We added the vB WYSIWYG editor with the ability to add inline images into the review text so that you can create reviews that pop.

Front End and ACP Approval: Review approval and editing can be done quickly through either the front end by moderators or in the ACP by adminstrators.

Very interesting. Willing to pay for one that does what I want.

Will this allow an admins/mods to create a bunch of product listings that users can then rate? I don't mind users creating their own reviews first, but I also want to be able to create a bunch of products (not that I'm selling) that I then want users to review/rate (sort of like Amazon reviews or other review sites ).

After the initial review/product is posted, are additional users then able to add their mini reviews with a rating? And if so, can those mini reviews be thumbed up or down and then listed according to how useful they are? (just like amazon)

Another good addition would be if we could include an affiliate link, or automatic affiliate link with redirect.

Some type of mass-import from a csv file could be useful in a pro version.

The one that Chris did had the ability to upload audio.(Only single file)
Maybe using jplayer for both single and multiple files. Other than that, I like this.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've added the request for audio files to our tracking tool. I'll look at adding it in the next feature release.

1 question though, how to add youtube videos to the reviews? ive tried both short and long links and get an sql error everytime.

Would the first post be the review and the following posts comments? I looked at your forum and it looks like all the info is within the post, no custom fields on there? I could build an importer for it but there would have to be a lot of clean up done after if you wanted it setup right.

If you haven't figured it out, make sure you have review questions filled out and the review instance has questions assigned to it. If you do and it's still not working let me know and I'll take a look.

This was requested on the DBT site (not sure if it was you or not?) It's a good idea but not in there now. I'll work on adding some kind of RSS functionality in the next release.

I read the post and it has a lot of good ideas. It's a different direction then I was thinking when I wrote it but I think it's also a good one. I'll look at making it optional to have it more of an admin/moderator driven review system where the users main function is to rate and comment.

The suggestion of a admin/mod driven system gets my vote.... it would be great if it was a little like a restaurant review system that could have google map locations etc...

Being able to weight the stars would also be good.

Just installed this and most things work great. However, the rating stars aren't working. There is no place to select the stars while writing a review and when viewing the reviews page all the star ratings are gray.

Any ideas?

I think that an update to this mod after 1.0.2 added the ability to import an existing forum, but I can't find a definite answer to that. Has anyone done this? I've installed the newest update but I don't want to try this yet until someone tells me for sure that it does work.

Is there anyone else who had problems with the attachment system? I should really know two things. the first is how to to remove the big "test review" picture when its not ment to be a picture there

Nr two is when I try to add pictures, it sends me to a blank page (does not when its not included pictures in the review) The review is posted, but I have to change the url to get out of the blank page.

I'm just asking her, in case some have the solution :)
