Forum owner conference coming up: ForumCon
 

ForumCon is coming up on Thursday, June 13th 2013 in San Francisco, California.

Last year's ForumCon was a pretty high quality event with good content and quality networking opportunities.

As so vB is also listed as a sponsor. I wonder who will be going from vB's side to San Fransico.

Probably not me, its a bit of a long way from where I am.

I only go to conventions held in Las Vegas.

I'll not be attending personally, but Jane from Socially Uncensored will be at Forum Con 2013

She's kind of interested in this & will be in the area anyways. So its not something out of her way (as it usually would). I told her I think it will be a waste of time and money, but if she's going anyways. :rolleyes:

From what I can understand of Forum Con is you have a bunch of people patting themselves on the back on a job well done and promoting themselves. No one outside of being an administrator of a large forum or business will be there. :rolleyes:

Now Comic Con is something I could get behind. Real people actually go there. :p

hehe - I assure you there will be real people there.... I mean not even sort of real but really real... I talked to a few of them today!;)

Tell Jane to find me and say hi! We have a really diverse and interesting set of people coming along this year from small to large forums and other types of online communities managers.. It is shame you can't join. Are you sure we can't tempt you to join??... :)

I have other plans in the works... I'll actually be overseas for about 1 - 2 months. Partly for fun, but partly work related as well.

Although I still think Forum Con is part self promotion and part self congratulations. But I guess I'll hear about it later & get a more "inside scoop"

I can't say I'm against it. But I think going to a place where everyone is there to basically promote themselves at the same time, isn't productive.

It's like having used car sales men or life insurance agents gathering together in one place; to sell their product and the only customers are themselves. ..... Hope you catch my meaning.

Well... If you can sell a used car to another used car salesman you know you are the Alpha salesman.

Oooo overseas. That's sounds like a 'just about' ( hehe) good enough reason to miss ForumCon this year.... (I hope you are headed somewhere nice :))

Being the Alpha in a room full of people who think they're the Alpha (even when proved otherwise).... Isn't my idea of a good time.

Forum Con isn't our target audience anyways.

But you will have the chance to debate that general idea with Jane. Just keep an eye out for the smoking hot "shorty" who looks almost to young to be there (looks like jail bate in person).

I've been told she sounds like she has an accent when she speaks, but I personally don't hear it. She does a fine job of impersonating an American (in my opinion).

What is she that she impersonates an American?

That is basically the target audience. Exactly what other group of people would be interested in going to a conference called ForumCon :confused: :erm:

How many people actually go to ForumCon? It seems like ti gets a lot more attention than it deserves.

Well we have around 250 people registered so far.... So I am thinking it deserves a wee bit of attention... ;)

most forums are small and don't make much money, so it's natural the target audience will be small. not sure why some of you are being such haters.

Ya, I've never really asked her that. It's one of those things that never seems important to me....

I know she's only visited America like twice and I know she sounds like she speaks perfect English, but she's never lived in an English speaking country.

Which is ironic because unless you see her passport, you'd think she was from America or Canada. Although she's very polite & soft spoken.

One of my friends said she sound European, but I don't know how someone can say someone sounds European. :confused: Someone else said she sounds French. And another person said she sounds Middle Eastern. :confused:

She currently lives in Sweden though. Before that she live in Switzerland and a few other places, that I don't recall at this time.

Point being, she speaks very good English & I don't pick up any accent.

I had two tickets as a sponsor but ended up not going. Technically its on the other side of the country :/
