VB5 - Header Usage

Hello,

I am unable to find where I can place a full width header in version 5. Site Builder only allows for the small image to be used. Our prior v3 board had a full width header, along with 3 buttons below for other aspects of our organization. This was done by someone prior to me maintaining the board.

Looking for how I would do this, and have not seen anything relevant for v5.

You'd need to edit the header template, just like you always did in older versions.

I am new to the software.
Sure would like to know how to do this.

Go to Admincp and then look at styles & template --> Style Manager -> edit template -> header

you can customize there

Been asking this same question myself and searching for a Fix on here and VB.com.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=299841
Still Unsolved

Tried styles & template --> Style Manager -> edit template -> header ,
One click on header only shows..
header:

This template has not been customized in this style or any of its parent styles.
Double-click the template name or click the 'Customize' button to add a customized version of this template to the current style and its child sets.

..............................
Double click brings up the code with 363 commands, Yet i see nothing to adjust the size of the header Logo.
Where and What should we be doing to accomplish this, I have seen several members asking the same question on Here and VB.com and have yet to see anyone post about achieving it.

Did you try to just add the path to the image via the stylevar titleimage and then add this to your css_additional.css template:

HTML Code:

#header .site-logo img {width: auto; max-width:none;}

Christine Car 07-08-2013 08:55 PM

Perfect Lynne,

Added the Additional CSS and the logo went full length as wanted,

Is there a way to lower the Search function box ??? Or i may have to try uploading a smaller version of the Logo..

See here http://www.christinecarclub.net/index.php

EngineerOne 07-08-2013 11:28 PM

O.K.
Been watching this thread and others to do similar (3 different HTML across the top) but didn't catch what was offered here.

I little explanation please.

I would like the search box elsewhere also.

Lynne 07-10-2013 01:25 AM

Perhaps align it bottom:

HTML Code:

#header .toolbar {vertical-align: bottom;}

Christine Car 07-10-2013 04:28 PM

Hi Lynne,

Are you saying to add this to my css_additional.css template:

Or to look for a exsisting HTML Code to change..

Thanks again for all your help..

Lynne 07-11-2013 08:03 PM

I always like to just add it to my css_additional.css template instead of editing the existing .css template.

Christine Car 07-11-2013 08:20 PM

Thanks for the reply Lynne,
Yes i guess adding them there makes it so easy to Undo anything added at a later date

Worked perfect also,,

I can't even see a logo - it is a broken image.

tacklebox joe 07-24-2013 08:11 PM

not that i am aware of...guess it is. how do i fix that? Sorry, ima noob.....

when i try to upload the image from my computer it will not let me so i used an url from my photobucket account

Zachery 07-24-2013 08:14 PM

You have to upload your own logo via FTP.
Upload it to the /images/misc folder in the forum folder, then log into your admin control panel
Styles & Templates > Style Manager > StyleVars (from the drop menu)
Enter into the search box: titleimage . In the Title Image, replace what is there with the name of your logo image.

tacklebox joe 07-25-2013 11:54 AM

disregard Zach, figured out what i did wrong...thanks

--------------- Added [DATE]1374760949[/DATE] at [TIME]1374760949[/TIME] ---------------

okay, here i am: i have added the image into my FTP images>misc....added the path in title image....added the additional css......logo still not expanded. Any ideas? Do I need to edit elsewhere instead of additional css? thanks.

Lynne 07-25-2013 03:05 PM

I see your image, but what do you mean that you want it expanded? The image is just 310px wide, which is what is showing, so what is it you want to happen?

tacklebox joe 07-29-2013 10:13 AM

i want it like CC's header......across the whole site

http://www.christinecarclub.net/index.php

Zachery 07-29-2013 03:10 PM

Their image is just hugenormous. I wouldn't recommend it.

Lynne 07-29-2013 03:26 PM

I wouldn't recommend that either. But, if that is what you want, then you need to use a photo editor and create a big huge logo like that one.

k. thanks. How would i go about changing the header background color to black and make it expand the whole header? When i tried it the header background color did not expand the whole length

notice top left hand corner:

Lynne 08-01-2013 12:14 AM

You have an image set for the background:
images/css/bckg_page.png

get rid of that and just leave the color for the header_background

tacklebox joe 08-01-2013 11:52 PM

got rid of it in my root however, did not work.

Lynne 08-02-2013 02:19 AM

You also left the background color at #333333 instead of black.

tacklebox joe 08-02-2013 03:03 AM

lynne, thx for the response got it to work...thx for all your help :)
