New template design?opinions plese
Folks-
I am trying to work through a redesign. I have put a page up live at http://www.arnoldy.us/DTPFOR/. This is NOT an active forum...it is a static version of the new FORUMHOME (which is all that I have worked on so far). It should be responsive from 1440px down to 280px wide. Please take a look and let me know what you think of the layout, and if you see any glitches. Thanks! --don http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/i...ttons/edit.gif |
Hmmm...
4 days; 3 section moves; 65 views; 1 low rating (was that for the site I asked to be evaluated, or the topic?); and 0 replies! Maybe I'll do better in this section. |
Interesting, too bad we can't see more of the template.

I'm glad you found it interesting... I sorta thought I'd never get a response. I haven't done too much more with it. I did build a showthread page to go with it.
Reaction to the design has been lukewarm at best—but I still like it a lot. --don |

Hm good or Hm bad?

Any links to the showthread?

I should have completely read your thread, lol.
My Review: - FORUMHOME is nice and clean, and unique. - This is really hard to read. (http://i.imgur.com/ck5d0DB.png) - I don't like a lot of box-shadow, I think notifications will look better without it. (http://i.imgur.com/MjpRjiQ.png) - I would change spacing on this to be in the center. (http://i.imgur.com/ZjaFchE.png) - I always hide this, don't like it. (http://i.imgur.com/K5wONt1.png) - Same goes for this box-shadow. (http://i.imgur.com/6ijQu5V.png) Nice work. |
Excel-
Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the time you took to review my design. I will seriously consider your recommendations. I think that shadow boxes are overused... I added them in after a number of early comments thought my pages looked "not web 2.0 enough" --don |
The design is very nice. Get it for sure. What I didn't liked is the upper frame. I do agree that in high resolution maybe does not appears so bad, but in 1024x768 it covers almost 1/3 of the height. It's not that my hardware does not supports higher resolutions. It does. But in my age most people have a bit vision problems, so we use lower resolutions.
Other than this is excellent design. |

Interesting! For me, at that resolution, the header takes up 16 - 20% of the height. I am trying to understand why it takes up so much more room for you... what is your default font size? Almost all of the page geometry is specified in ems?so that increasing the default font size should have the same effect as reducing the window pixel dimensions. --don |
Come on. I didn't measured it... it appeared to be so. What I wanted to say is that is getting enought space there.
|
Love it - it's very simple to get around and thats hard to find these days with all the fancy html 5 code. Well done, a valued designer in my book

Thank you!
