.com has moved to 5?

Just went to the .com site and it's running five.

Or did I end up someplace ... wrong?

This seems like a bad idea.

Well, goodbye to any vB 4 updates then.
I just checked and yes you're right they have done it.

So what the hell happened to 4.2.1?
It's a sad day for all us vB 4 lovers.

And you know what, I go there and it looks so ugly and cheap
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/

Also, no last posts showing next to each Cat forum.
IMHO they have gone back in time with the way it looks
It is also super, super slow.....

Zantox 02-21-2013 02:00 AM

Yea saw that earlier today. The website seems to be a bit slower now, or maybe it's just me. I personally like vb4 over 5.

They released 3.8.5, 3.8.6, and 3.8.7 all after vbulletin.com was upgraded to vB4. So, just because vbulletin.com is running vB5 doesn't mean there will be no more releases in the vB4 version.

The only sad thing is that, after the upgrade they go back in time with there posts.

I started a threath about a problem, but this is now gone with all it's reply's
Now i started a new threath but no help and no email notification.

So i think there is work in progress to solve these issues.

I'm not sure what you're saying. I'm finding posts all the way back to 2009 in the vB4 forums and 2008 in the vB3 forums.

And all of my posts are still there.

ageurtse 02-21-2013 02:44 PM

Well for 2 days ago i started a threath, but that is gone.
When you look close there is a gape in the treaths for about 2 days.

Ramsesx 02-21-2013 03:04 PM

There was an announcement that they run a temporary database and new post will not be kept. That's the reason why your posts are gone.

Brandon Sheley 02-22-2013 04:29 PM

I think people will start posting over here a lot more.
Of the 5 post I tried to submit, I had 2 that came back with "data errors" then it would submit a blank post which I could not edit to put the actual content in it that I was trying to post.

I predict IB will not own vbulletin much longer... At least we can hope can't we

I have always been a big supporter of vb but calling vb 5 a stable version is a joke. It is not ready to be called as such by a long time.

It appears this was done in preparation for the settlement/loss of the case against XenForo.

mokujin 03-01-2013 10:33 PM

vb5 is just the worst forum software. so happy with vb 3 and 4

Revenga 03-02-2013 02:17 AM

I thought it was just my computer running slow or something when I was at vBulletin.com recently. Apparently not. :/

It's running at a very slow pace and tbh it's a bit irritating. But I appreciate that they're trying to advance the software - I mean who can't appreciate that? I just wish vBulletin.com was running at a normal pace instead of this turtle slow speed.

I won't say vB5 is the worst software ever, but I won't say it's the best software ever. I need to wait for it to mature a bit further before I have a set opinion on it. So far from what I see, it has good potential, but only to those who need something completely different.

Apparently senior vB management will be answering members questions in this thread http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...anagement-here

Let us see what they saw about the current state and future plans.
