[DBTech] Threads Auto Close v1 (vB4)

What is Threads Auto Close?
Threads Auto Close is a professional forum management mod, allowing administrators to automatically close threads after X post or X replies.

Close Threads Automatically is the ideal product to eliminate the bumping of older threads.

Threads are not closed in the database, they appear as if they were closed. So, if you deactivate or uninstall the mod, threads appear as open again.

Note: Threads that are marked as closed by this mod via the Auto Close After X Replies setting, can not be reopened due to the fact that they have reached the max replies you set. Only way to re open them is to increase the reply limit or disable that feature.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

Major Features
Close After X Posts: Administrators can set threads to auto close after a defined amount of days.

Close After X Replies: Administrators can set threads to auto close after a defined amount of replies.

Forum Settings: Administrators can set which forums threads to auto close after X days or X replies.

General Settings

Option to toggle plugin on or off.
Option to hide the version number in the footer.
Option to close thread after X days.
Option to close sticky threads or not.
Forum selector to choose which forums to auto close threads in.
Setting to close threads after X replies if so desired, overrides the close thread after X days setting.
Usergroup setting to select which usergoups will see the threads as closed.
Forum selector to choose which forums the threads do not auto close on, if you choose All Forums in the other setting.
Option to include sub forums if the parent forum is selected.
Option to enter forum id's of threads you want excluded from auto closing if it is in a forum you have threads auto closing.
Option to enter the id's of the users you want to see the threads as closed if they are in a forum you have threads auto closing. Useful if you only want certain users to see threads closed instead of usergroups.
Option to add a "Closed" prefix on forumdisplay to the thread title if the thread is closed via this mod.

Any chance you could add an option for closing the thread after X days of inactivity?

Having an fixed number of days doesn't really solve our thread bumping problem, since it could close off active threads that are in use...

Hey if you could add a sorta "bump down" feature to this i may consider buying it.

For example if a thread has so many - likes it closes.

Sorry about the delay in responding, I did not get ant notification about new posts being made. The mod already does that, it auto closes the thread after X days of the last post, not the first post. Looking at the way I wrote the description I see it is confusing and will re word that shortly.

I assume you mean likes as in from the Advanced Post Thanks / Like mod we have?

Any chance you could add an option to delete threads after x days in certain forums aswell, or move them to another forum? this would be ideal for us to set up a classified forum.. :D

It may be possible, but kinda goes beyond the scope of the mod, I will look into it when the mod undergoes future feature updates though.

apart from the additional updates you have used to make it your own whats the differents between yours and his

I did not even know that one was around when I wrote this one. I have not tried it so I don't know what the exact differences are but this one is supported, where that one is not.

i love the idea of this mod, its a little confusing to me, i will have to test this out as i only need tis feature for 1 forum section

hi, im using 4.2.1 and this mod works only when i choose "Enable on all Forums" in Auto Close In Forums. When i choose only a specific forums it doenst work out.

I choose None in Don't Auto Close In Forums

By the way, it works only with "Close Thread After X Days" and doesnt work with "Auto Close After X Replies"

can you do it like this : set time for each thread to auto close

Is this mod able to set desired number of replies to trigger auto-close per forum?
I mean, can we set different numbers of reply per forum? Let's say forum1 will auto close after 5000 replies and forum2 will auto close after 50 replies. A setting like that maybe in the ACP > Forum Manager > Edit Forum

No there is no such setting in the mod to do that.

The auto close feature isn't working.
I have it set to auto close forums after 60 replies in all forums, However nothing happens

Can you please show me a screenshot of your configuration & a screenshot of the thread list showing some threads that should be closed, so I can try to replicate it locally?

Also, have you tried disabling all other mods in case there's a conflict?

I downloaded and installed this mod last night. And tonight members are complaining that current threads are showing up as closed. After researching this complaint I've realized that all threads show as closed when viewing the Subscribed Threads Quick Link. All other forum views work as expected.

The Subscribed Threads link is set up with a Target URL of subscription.php{session.sessionurl_q}.

Is there something I can add to this URL to fix the bug? I already tried adding contenttype=vBForum_Thread; but all displayed threads still showed up as Closed.

Edit: Looks like this bug exists on My Posts as well. This Target URL is search.php?do=finduser&userid={bbuserinfo.userid}& contenttype=vBForum_Post&showp osts=1. When I change showposts=0 or remove it, this link then becomes My Threads, which works correctly. Something is missing when showing the given member's actual posts in a list.

So, there are 2 areas that appear to need updating.

any chance that this or other plugins can have the ability to lock threads with db.
i want the threads to get normal close after x days. no neef for extra permissions. administrators will still be able to "ignore" the lock just like normal

Is there a same mod like this but for Vbulleitn 3.8.x version instead of Vbulleitn 4??

Not sure if you're still looking for a solution but for the subscription.php page create a hook usersub_view_query name it whatever you want with the contents:

For the search result page you'll need to do a manual query in another hook to expose the custom field added by the module to your search results. The hook you have to create is threadbit_process, with execution order 4 (so it comes before the other process hook from the autoclose plugin) with the contents:

with vb 4.2.4

This mod works only when i choose "Enable on all Forums" in Auto Close In Forums.

When i choose only a specific forums it does'nt work out.

Is it a bug ?
