How to display latest blog comments in the sidebar?

I guess that I will have to use a block with my custom code. Any ideas how to display these comments?

You have to add a forum block and when doing that it gives you options of what to put in it, articles, blogs and forum posts are just a few.

Well, but the option to display blog comments isn't there.

Are you using the default Forum Blocks or a Mod? You can click the link in my siggy and scroll down near the bottom and on the right side you will see the Blogs in the Forum Block, it is done using the vB 4.2.0 default Forum Blocks

Edit: If you want to use custom code, instead of choosing the Blogs you will want to select the HTML option.

But these are blog posts, not blog comments (replies under blog posts) :)
There must be a way to retrieve comments via the custom code but I don't know how, that's why I ask.

Did you try selecting New Replied as the Blog Entry Type?

pokusek 03-25-2013 05:05 PM

That's it! Thank you very much.

I feel so dumb right now. :D

My bad, Comments are different than Replies to me, i thought you just wanted to post Blogs in the Sidebar.

I just realized that this option displays links to blogposts only that were commented recently. What do I have to do to display actual comments?

You would need to modify the code in order to do that and I have not looked into exactly what would need to be done.
