Dev Site
Hi
My host made a backup of my site (db/files) so I can have a test site. However im having problems with it redirecting to my main site. They say the issue is: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- function vba_attach_win(threadid) { openWindow('http://www.pitbikeclub.co.uk/misc.php?do=showattachments&t=' + threadid, 480, 300); } --></script> ...which reverts you to the main site. You will need to amend this across the site. Is there a easy way to amend this? |
Did you change your URL settings in the admincp to match the url for the new dev site?
|
No because I can't access any pages without a redirect to the main site. I did however edit the sites url in the db but it's not made a difference.
|
You can use tools.php & reset the URL, its located in your do_not_upload folder from the vb zip.
Did you verify that you dont have any rewrite rules via a htaccess file? |
Yes I have a rewrite all non www. for the main site, I checked the .htaccess for the dev site and that has the same code. I removed but for some reason chrome downloads the webpages instead of displaying?
So tried that tools, and the friggin redirect keeps taking me off it! |
Typically if your prompted to dl a page, then thats an apache issue w/ the add handler.
Edit the .htaccess in the dev folder & disable rewrites |
Since that isn't default vbulletin code, did you try disabling the plugins via the config.php file?
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php HTML Code:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); |
I haven't, as I think the problem is with apache. Even the test PHP page won't pharse.
How do I fix this? Im running Plesk, or is it a host only issue? (i've already removed the rewrites) Many thanks for your help folks. |
If a non-vbulletin page is having the problem, then the problem is a server issue.
|
Reece, did you do what i posted in post #6?
|
Yes I removed the rewrites and now the .htaccess is blank. To edit apache can I do it from Plesk or is it a host only thing?
Thanks in advance. |
Why are you trying to edit apache?
Do not empty it, disable rewrites, ie.... RewriteEngine Off |
Yes but you said apache isnt pharsing the pages. How do I make it do so?
|
I said typically the add handler is missing, but your other pages are parsing correct?
Without actually viewing the setup, its hard to say exactly whats causing it, some one with access to the server needs to check the logs to track the issues. |
No nothing on the dev site is being produced. Just downloading.
|
Is the dev site on the same server?
I had asked if the other sites/pages work ok? |
Apologies, yes the dev site is just a subdomain of the main site which is working okay.
I asked this question over @ vb.com and 1 reply was it looks like vBadvanced? However nothing is parsing! There must be a easy fix? |
In my previous post, someone with log access needs to find out whats going on, there are a few things it could be.
Its not really a easy fix when you cant see the server itself or its setup etc... |
Thanks for all your help, looking at the subdomain settings and PHP was never ticked. Thanks to my host...
Anyway fixed now, thank you. |
There are never enough "Likes" to give Lynne.
