Show Facebook page - Inline Pop up
 

Shows Facebook LIKE social plugin to visitors inside forum area(without any new popup window) after specific time. You can control the timing by changing delay value.

• Imported the plugin from Wordpress plugin.
• This Mod uses codes/files from fancybox.net and "fancybox for wordpress" plugin. It was built using the jQuery library.

Edit/Update : If you want the LIKE pop up to appear on every page load , change show_once every x days to 0

Does it stop appearing (and doesn't return) once the user has liked your facebook page?

If you want the light box to appear on every time the page is loaded for a current user, then use the following settings.

"show_once":"0"

So what youre saying is that even after somebody has liked your facebook page by clicking like, it will continue to return? I would find that very annoying myself. Great idea for a mod, but I dont wanna annoy my users with pop ups from facebook every time they log on. :(

Although you can change "show the fb box in x number of days" to 20 or 30 days.

It's impossible, but you can show it to only guests by wrapping header code with these:

Great idea but as budabing says

if i was on a website and kept getting this pop up, i would ruin my user experience.

Maybe look into fixing this issue otherwise i think this mod will dye out pretty quick. As i say, awesome idea tho and with this addition fix, something that would be a permanent feature i most sites ;)

thanks.. how to make "like" to "follow" button

This tiny mod is ruining my day yesterday and is about to do it again today. Awwww :D

I?d set it up using the fb-ID of my fan-page. even when it?s been written here, it?s designed to work only with fb-groups. Worked pretty good at first for 2 or 3 times and brought immediatly ~50 new likers. But since then the pop-up is empty each time. Regardless which browser, IP or machine, logged in to facebook or not.

Anyone an idea?

I have not looked into this modification to see what it is doing, but you might be running into the following problem if the application is not properly caching it's contents. Many developer are unaware that this is a change in the FaceBook API.

Now, I?m wondering how the big game-kind sites utilize this. Never experienced a blank facebook pop-up on their sites. So I guess there must be some code out there, which works them around that ugly problem.

To whom it may concern:

After giving facebook the chance to lift the api-siteban tbworld mentioned yesterday and we´d obviously won, today we did another attempt. This time we have packed the code into a vb:if statement and restricted the audience to only members.

Until now, it works. But we guess, as soon as the members are coming from work and the traffic pitch goes up, we´ll be caught in the facebook-throttle again.

But an imprtant sidenote: it seems, that this plugin needs a logged-in facebook status - else it won´t show anything and will come up with a blank layer. That will divert more users as it will attract, depending on your visitors. Mine are grown ones >30yrs and significnatly older. A lot of them don´t use facebook or at least they aren´t logged in all the time.

If this is true, than we would need a rework of this mod, checking the logged in status in facebook, that avoids te blank layer to come up, if no facebook-login=true is detected.

Guess that´s the only way this mod could avoid becoming a negative sidenote of your sites. You know how quick users are to jump a trolling train :/

Hi Siva, I have three questions...

1. Can this be places into a product.xml file so it can be added as a plugin?
2. How can we get this to work on the mobile style as well?
3. Does this remember that a person has liked the forum? If so for how long? 30 days, etc?
4. How do I make the domain urls relative so that this can be viewed in https (secure) form as well? Don't want unsecure warnings...

but there is a problem with this mod , the users traps in this mod and in the end closes the website , it reduces website earnings.
