How Display Videos/Images from RSS Feed in Forum Posts?
Can someone please help me with this? I am only seeing text.
|
Anybody? Please?
|
What type of videos are they? Each type of video has to have the right bb code, check this post out:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ight=ign+video You must also have the option to allow videos for that specific forum. |
I am able to insert video into my forum posts, but not via RSS feed.
I've been trying with many RSS feeds, but the one that surprises me most is the fact that the youtube RSS feeds I've tried aren't working. For the link you provided, I did the BB code for youtube, but it says that we enter the code after the "watch?v=" I don't see that in the URL for the RSS feed (https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/...erby=relevance) Would this solution even work with RSS feeds? I'm already able to insert video one at a time into individual posts, so it looks like video works in my posts.... Any help you can provide would be most appreciated. I've been searching for answers on this. |
I was searching for something like this a couple weeks ago myself and I could of sworn that helped my RSS feeds coming in with youtube videos to post videos in the thread, I was wrong! lol...sorry Bro.
I will have to look into this as well now since I just added a discuss bot integrated with Feed Gator for my Joomla CMS. This allows Feed Gator to post each individual feed as an individual article which also gets posted on my forums. The discuss bot allows for comments to be posted directly from the article, but I just noticed that in the thread the videos are not posted! sob! lol.... So as soon as I find something or figure something out I will make sure I let you know my Friend! You can check it out by going to my site. |
What's you site? Dude, you can have a "Feed Gator" post each individual feed as an article AND in your forums, and comments can be posted directly from the article????? That is awesome!! Can you teach me about that??

I sent you a private message Dave, I don't want anyone here thinking I'm advertising my website.
You can always find someone's website on their profile most of the times at least. |
Does anyone know how to embed the videos and images from RSS feeds?
|
|
Anybody?
|
Come on, SOMEBODY has to know how to do this. How is it not possible to do this???????????
|
Does anyone know? I really need this to work.
|
It seems so simple. I'm shocked that it's not possible to automatically insert video or images into the forum via rss feed.
|
When editing the feed, in the "body template" add this:
Code:
[video]{feed:link}[/video] BTW I found that the feed url you posted above didn't work until I changed it to "http:" instead fo "https:". |
I have found that a lot of rss feeds just deliver you the headline and a link or just copy, but when I use content:encoded in the options I get rich streams most times
|
kh99, which feed url did I post above? I don't see one.
Toorak Times, can you give me an example of how I would put content:encoded in options? What would I include in options? |

But some time after I posted my solution, I was thinking about it and I realized that it only works because the link included in the feed is a youtube page. It's not a general solution for any video link in a feed. |
kh99, you are awesome. Thank you so, so, so, so much.
Do you know how I could do this for images and video from other sources, other than youtube? |
Dave did you ever get this function to work...I am also interested in adding images with a blogger feed in a forum thread. If so, would you share! I have VB 4.2.1
|
I use this plugin, as long as the video is from youtube that is, and then use this link to pull in the full rss feed.
Copy the rss feed from the site you want to pull info from into that page which will then give you a link to copy into your "URL rss feed". Make sure "Convert HTML to BB Code" is ticked yes. And in the body template...I have it as: {feed:description} and this will pull in images, video....and corresponding links as well. |
Thanks so much @outl4w ~ this is a great plugin for my you tube video feeds!:)
